I have a T3x stainless lite 22-250 threaded 1/2x28 and running a Banish 223 suppressor with direct thread and and it works fine. I recently bought a T3x Superlite .243 w/22” barrel. I bought a Thunderbeast 6.5 Ultra 9 that I want to run on it. I talked to Thunderbeast and they do not recommend 1/2x28 direct thread for this suppressor, they do not think there’s enough shoulder.Why wouldn’t this suppressor work with 1/2x28 threads like my 22-250? I’m looking for options to mount this Ultra 9 on the .243. I see Area 419 has options but I do not know enough about them. Thanks

TBAC will usually thread tikkas 1/2-28 themselves and use the CB brake as the mount for the suppressor
Because 24 is bigger than 22.
1/2x28 threads are for 22 cals, if you go bigger youll want to step up to a bigger thread size.
Thunderbeast can do a 9/16 cb face mount brake. That's what I had them do on my t3x lite 6.5 creed.
With a bullet larger than 22/5.56 you won’t have adequate material left in the muzzle after it’s threaded. 1/2x28 is alright with the smaller 22 cal bullet.
Most will thread it 5/8x24 but that requires a larger diameter shoulder.
9/16x28 is viable if your barrel is adequately thick, or see the face mount brake seen above (vs shoulder mount which requires thicker material).
1/2” threads means your minor thread diameter(smallest cut away part of a thread) is around .475”. Subtract the bullet diameter and that means there is .475-.243=.232” of material. Divide that by 2 for each side of the barrel and you get .116 of material left on each side. No good. Needs more material, necessitates a larger diameter thread.
Absolutely nothing. Your direct thread has a device installed already.

"With the CB mount, the suppressor mates to a conical shoulder on the brake and locks up rock solid and extremely tight. In direct thread configuration, the ULTRA suppressors use a heat-treated 17-4 thread insert and initial blast shield. The ULTRA series suppressors also have the flexibility to be changed from direct thread to CB mount and vice versa via a simple factory service operation, in case your needs change. This is accomplished by removing or replacing the default brake from the direct thread version."
I would contact Thunderbeast and have them convert and thread for the face mount brake. Threading costs are in line with other companies. They can do it right.
I don't see why there won't be enough shoulder, the superlite barrel is the same contour as a the standard lite, just with added flutes is it not?
Sounds like you are getting mixed messages, as you are right there's no reason you can't do a 1/2x28 on your 243. That being said the barrel should be thick enough to go for a 9/16 thread.
M14x1 and M15x1 are very common threads for Tikkas outside of the US, 9/16" is about 14.3mm so there's no reason it wouldn't work.

Wall thickness on a 1/2-28 for a 243 looks right at 0.107".
I run into this problem a lot. One option we've used with success is silver soldering a bushing onto the muzzle end and threading that. The muzzle end is turned down just a hair to straighten out the OD and a bushing is turned to match. Really the only "right" way to throw the proper sized threads on a pencil barrel. With a brake threaded on it looks just fine and works great.
