I just picked up a used Howa mini heavy barrel in 223 Remington. I'm noticing the bolt lift after pulling the trigger is extremely heavy. I need to have a firm grasp of the rifle to open the belt. I am not familiar with this model, is this normal?
Thanks for the reply. I guess there's not much I can do to improve it. I thought maybe it was a defect, I've never had to exert so much force to cock the bolt on any other file I owned. I got the rifle for a good price, I'll try and get used to it.
I notices the cocking ramp has an uneven wear pattern, maybe there is a burr on the cocking piece. I'll take it to my gunsmith for him to have a look. If there is he can stone it out.
Like other's have said the throw is as bit heavy , when new, the bolt sounded like a zipper when I cycled the action . I keep it lubed and it has got much better over time .
