Once sent a mobile tech to a broke down Werner driver just before we closed for the day. Next morning service writer finds me and says they refuse to pay. Batteries were dead, tech called for approval, had name, time, reference number. Asshat at Werner said, “We never approve batteries under…” I forget the circumstances. Had him call the driver and tell him there may be an issue. He was about 60 miles away. We had a satellite with a mobile tech in that town. Sent him out to remove the batteries. Back in his truck he told the driver the deal and drove off.
They would still call for breakdown service. Our response was, we need a credit card with authorization form up front. They didn’t like that.
