Rifle for home defense. What Caliber?

WHAT??

My hearing is shot.
Between shooting without hearing protection, crewing on a fuel car, and then being a diesel generator tech - I am surprised I can hear anything.
When I was a kid, I remember seeing a guy mowing his lawn while wearing muffs. I also remember thinking “what a nerd.”

Now I wear muffs and eye pro while doing lawn work, and wear ear plugs when driving with the windows down…

And, I’m a bit “insistent” about my kids wearing ear pro around anything loud. I have the EEEEEEEE, and trying to prevent it in them.

Why is this thread so long with BS crap, if you live in a house that is maybe 25 feet from your neighbors house. You need to have a shotgun, and a small one. I think you need to think about a judge or something in that range. Kill your neighor with a high power round, that is on you, I love and trust my neighbors. They have my back, I would never put them in harms way.

I am also that guy. I wear ear plugs and I am always wearing my glasses when mowing the lawn.

At the gun range, especially indoor, I wear both plugs and cans.

It's even moreso important for a guy who owns a few units in our building. He has a recording studio and is ever so careful about being around loud noises. He needs to be able to hear high frequencies and also subtle changes. That literally is his job. His ears are his tools of the trade.

I am just an amateur musician. I have played in front of an audience but never for money. And I want to keep hearing as best I can, as well.

So, I hunt with cans on my head, ready to pull down if I am going to make a shot.

If my rounds travel all the way into the neighbor’s house it means I missed and I allowed the invaders to get to the second floor, so I’m no longer shooting at a down angle.

Possible, but unlikely.

As unlikely as the projectile traveling in a straight line and still being deadly after passing through two walls (inside and outside) at my place across 75’ separation between the houses, and through two walls at the neighbors place.

But whatever.

:ROFLMAO: I was just thinking if I had a bullet that went through a person and through some walls and into the next house, I must have accidentally gotten the same ammo as LHO had in the book suppository (spelling intentional) when had the bullet curving ability to go through JKF and Gov. Connally and still wind up pristine on the gurney at Parkland Hospital.

Just a funny thought I had. Carry on.
