Russell's Reserve 10 year. I love cheap, but tasty bourbon.
I gave away a major portion of a bottle of that. I tried to like it. I really did.
Gave it to a buddy that loves it.

RR15 is easily one of the top 3 bourbons I’ve tasted. The old rip decanter has some woodford double oaked I’ve been hoarding from a barrel pick we did about 4-5 years ago. The two Blantons were separate barrel picks from Elite Beverages, one from this May and one from 2 years ago.
This A.Bowman CS is my bottle of the year. Its so unbelievably good I like it over RR15. My 3 best bottles of the last few years are

Probably late to the story but I recently watched “Bourbon King”, Netflix Heist series about Pappygate. Fairly interesting story. I’m sure you all know about it.
My main thought after watching it was if the Pappy was such a valuable commodity why was Buffalo Trace so lax in their control of it? The show said that Buffalo Trace still doesn’t know how much of the Pappy was stolen. Amazing!

It is okay but I don't think it is worth the price. Reminds me of Oban 14 (same price) but the Oban is better.
I got a bottle of Compass Box Orchard House also. I tried that earlier and for a blended scotch at a $52 price it is pretty good.

Had a decent haul from Specs Bourbon day. Passed on a lot of good bottles, esp ryes since that not my jam.

Is that a regional beer? I've never heard of it. How old the can on left? I do like the color of the brew.

Cynar, Fernet Branca, Branca Menta, Averna, Gran Classico are all bitter liquors in my rotation along with Aperol and Campari.

I think the distiller is Barrell Craft Spirits, and it’s a blended Bourbon.
A bit strong for my tastes…Michters Rye being my go to.

It's not jus how just label and describe bottles. Companies just make up random ass pricing on bottles, it's insane to spend 2-500 dollars on a bottle that is not allocated or not know anything about. Having said that, I just spent 250 on the RR15. At least know it's a good bottle and super allocated.
Barrell was buying everything on the market for a long time. They had some big hitters over the years but seen where the market was heading and sold a lot of the inventory… musta has some internal issues to… not to sure what’s in the future for them but there is a new distillery being built in Etown and they are strictly contract. A few of the main guys at Barrell are over there now.. fwiw
Would spend $250 on a RR15 in half a heartbeat. Hell I don’t see it for twice that here.

Best thing about gift bottles is you never know what you will get.
Good way to get to try without the financial risk.
I will say this is an extremely well packaged bottle from the slip case box the the heavy steel cork topper.
In honor of Dry January I just opened a bottle of Oban Little Bay that I got for Christmas. I think I still like Oban 14 better. I may try a taste test tonight.
