Brandon Herrera would accept the position as director of ATF just to help it close down. The ATF has never done any good. They do zero about alcohol and tobacco. In fact, it is usually the IRS that worries about that because of unpaid taxes.
As for firearms, none of their rules have ever made anyone safer. Restricting machine guns did not make anyone safer. In fact, it has been theorized that the american crime syndicates and mafia grew because of the money they made during Prohibition, another government control that did nothing.
At no time is a suppressor going to make any firearm more deadly or more likely to kill people. The gun is not silent. To even restrict those is beyond stupid. In other countries, you jump through all kinds of hoops just to get the firearm. But the suppressor is sold over the counter, as it were.
The only thing the NFA and ATF did was make citizens less safe. Also, the rules of the ATF violate the sovereignty of the states.
People think SCOTUS outlawed abortion. They did not. They simply returned the decision to the states. The baby killers have themselves to blame for this. Abortion was originally described as a right to free speech. Now, with the baby killers saying it's healthcare, well, healthcare is a state job, not a federal or judicial job.
The ATF should be abolished because there never has been any provision to say that a "federal" agency should be controlling what people do in their own states. In fact, states should be held accountable if they violate the Bill of Rights.

Speaking of which, Matthew Hoover ("CRS Firearms") should be released and have his record cleaned and retain his SOT. If we get rid of the stupid ATF, we don't need FFLs anymore.

I hope part of that bill is eliminating the NFA and all the regulations that ATF required for us to buy and transfer “firearms” as eliminating it stand alone will actually act in a manner that will PREVENT us from buying, transferring or selling any NFA item.
If I understand correctly, this would be like the shit they pulled in 83/84. Post 84 automatic rifles are not illegal, but the law didn’t create any means to actually transfer them so in effect, they banned them through inaction. I may be way off base here, but that’s how I currently understand how it went down.

There are some great women in Congress like our Wyoming Harriet Hageman and Cynthia Lummis who work tirelessly behind the scenes for their constituents. Cynthia Lummis went above and beyond for me when my NFA app got stuck. It was really amazing the time effort and follow through on behalf of one constituent.
While they peons are putting bills up that will go nowhere and running their pie-holes about their luxury congressional bathrooms, people out here suffering and it continues to get worse. Where is the tax relief bill for folk that have been subjected to the most massive idiot-tax in the past four years, we’ve seen in history. Where is the bill to end funding for this folly in Ukraine? The bill to reel in the h1b visa abuses? The bill that kills funding for electric car subsidies?

Here is the biggest problem with both the ATF, and The Department Of Homeland Security... Both are completely redundant and unnecessary. As far as alcohol, tobacco, and firearms, they should be under the direct supervision of both the IRS, and the FBI.
The biggest problem with alcohol and tobacco is tax evasion. Untaxed Moonshine, and smuggled cigarettes. Both are IRS related. Firearms, be they illegally produced, stolen, or sold and owned, fall under the FBI. There is zero requirement for this redundancy, in having all of these government agencies, all sucking off the taxpayer tit.
It's the same deal with The Department Of Homeland Security. We already have the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard to, "protect the homeland". That was the sole purpose why they were created. Not to mention the literally hundreds of thousands of local police, state police, and sheriff's departments, that currently exist in the 3,144 counties in this country.

Because like most politicians, he saw an opportunity to create yet another unnecessary, multi billion dollar, taxpayer funded department..... Which, just like the ATF, is completely unnecessary. Both should be totally disbanded immediately, and their assets and real estate sold off and applied to pay down the National Debt. Because they are both redundant and not required...... As are all of their taxpayer, tit sucking employees.

Good point. In any case, it is not a Bill of Rights issue, it is not a constitutional issue, therefore, SCOTUS has no business with it and should never have in the first place.

firearms are constitutionally protected. they shouldn't be regulated at all. the ONLY thing the fbi should be doing firearm related, is tracking stolen guns or working on solving crimes. the "illegally sold or produced".... that fucking phrase shouldn't even exist.
i'm not even really a guy that likes to shoot firearms much at all anymore. i get more enjoyment out of my bow. but wrong is wrong and i've fucking had it with them. and that we even let them imply that production and sales should be regulated pisses me off. we need to reject that premise at every opportunity.
I agree to a point. But that's never going to happen. You know it and I know it. The fact of the matter is there are laws on the books that don't need a half dozen agencies to enforce. Guns are, "illegally sold and produced" every day under existing laws. If they should or shouldn't be doesn't matter. Reality still exists, regardless of how fair or unfair it may very well be. There will never be a shortage of unfair laws that should not exist.
Illegally produced means Uncle Sam isn’t getting his tax off production. I thing at all illegal with making your own firearm, as long as it never crosses state linked or sells. Once you bring converse in, they get all butt hurt and want their cut.

As a comparison, it is legal to build your own car and drive it to another state. You might still get inspections or a registration, which would require you noting the VIN. And that is only with each state. Most any device has a serial number.
For example, having a serial number on your gun or car (with a VIN) is handy if you sell it to someone and they or someone else commits a crime with it. Then, you would have the bill of sale showing that you sold this item with this number to this person, etcetera.
Also, a state cannot bar you from bringing in a gun because you do have the second amendment and they cannot supercede that.
But governments can do weird things, n'est pas?
I personally feel the government shouldn't ever be entitled to another penny of revenue. They do a marvelous job of wasting what money they already get.
But (for the sake of argument) if we truly believe they need revenue then we can come up with a scheme to fund agencies that do something halfway useful...
The current NFA system distorts the market and creates a bottleneck for manufacturers, retailers, and end users.
The regulation of suppressors and the $200 tax stamp are counterproductive to raising revenue... Deregulate them. Allow them to be sold over the counter with a very moderate tax that is earmarked to go to X agency(ies)... Revenue by volume. No need for buildings full of government employees processing applications one at a time. Deregulation allows more players to get in the game... Volume of available goods will increase. Retail prices will drop accordingly. And while the tax levied per unit is lower... The decreased red tape should allow for increased generation of overall revenue simply by volume.
Deregulate automatic weapons and add a very moderate tax to ammunition sales... Make those lowers with the "3rd hole" widely and easily available... More ammo used on range days. You could probably even limit the tax to "high volume" cartridges and increase revenue over and above what NFA generates.
Of course arms and ammo manufacturers would have to expand to meet demand. But after the last 4 years they should be doing that anyway...
I also believe you would see different products at different price points... A cheap can that I could buy at Dollar General for $18.00... Who cares if it's only good for one range session? I buy one for $18, blast 1000 rounds through it at the range with my giggle switch AR and toss it in the trash when I'm done... I can stop at DG on my way home and buy another for $18... And not have to wait for some jerkoff in DC to process my application... And $3 of that $18 goes to the government to pay for studying the mating songs of queer snails... Or whatever is en vogue to waste money on at the moment.
