Heavier barrel as mentioned with a better stock and match fully adjustable external trigger.
If the trigger can be adjusted to a decent pull and you're not interested in a chassis swap it might check quite a few boxes at the price it lists for, should feed more reliably than all the 700 footprint 22lr "match" rifles. Wish they would've upped the barrel length to 22, or at least a 20.
I’m sure if it becomes a contender to the cz and tikka there will be chassis options.

I have all 3, prefer the BMR mags over the others as I have not had an issue with the mags. Plenty of issues with Tikka with constant stove pipes the CZ being a real PITA to insert into magwell.
One of my 457's are in a Grey Birch chassis, the magwell is challenging on the clock. The other is in an Oryx, MDT got the magwell funnel right on that one...both flawlessly feed and eject though.

Good to know, I haven’t really considered the BMR until I’ve seen these reviews on YouTube coming out about the BMR-X. But I really wonder about preproduction YouTuber reviews and like to wait and see what actual people who purchase their rifles have to say about their experiences.
I have a BMR Carbon; like the action and mags, barrel has excellent accuracy/consistency, didn't care for the factory trigger, so I put in a TT-Diamond...hate the factory stock. Wonder if the new BMR-X stocks are compatible with the original action? Maybe that answer is already public knowledge?
I've got a steel barrel BMR...it's a great rifle. About 20% less accurate than my B14R; my BMR groups Lapua Center X below 3/4 MOA at 100 yards, and shoots 0.34"-0.38" 5-shot groups at 50 yards. Pretty impressive for a rifle that costs less than half of a B14R. I modded the stock trigger to be adjustable, pulls at a crisp 2lbs. I prefer the BMR mags to any CZ mag...much faster and easier to load without looking. The BMR stock isn't great, but it's acceptable for what the rifle is; a lightweight 22lr bolt action. Also added a larger bolt knob and a Titan cheek riser.
The new BMR-X adds some interesting features, and I will most likely pick up a steel barrel model. I like the heavier barrel, but I will be curious to see how it shoots compared against my BMR and B14R.

It should be as the the action never changed. Might be moeof gap under barrel. You can get a chassis for them and Boyd wood stock if you wanted to go that way.
I did get a Boyd's stock for mine. Feels better than the one it came with, but the fore end is shaped funny, compared to a normal Barracuda like my 10/22 squirrel rifle is in.
I stopped by my dealer yesterday to inquire about a BMR-X carbon in .17hmr...their distributor had 5 in stock so I had them order me one. $689 was the price. I am a little disappointment to see they are still shipping with a 30moa base, it's useless for me as this is going to be a dedicated small varmint rifle, I could not get a good zero at 100 yards with my last BMR using 2 different scopes. Off to midway to order the 0 moa base.
EGW makes a much better mount. I don't really care for the factory mount either.
Picked my BMR-X carbon .17hmr today. So far I'm really happy with it. Fit and finish is excellent, trigger is very light, consistent and crisp, haven't measured pull yet, I'm guess under 3lbs or right around there right out of the box, I don't plan to adjust it right now. The stock is a really nice upgrade, it's very rigid and does not flex like the original BMR stock did. The flush cups are nice. I swapped out the 30moa base for a 0moa. Setup and older Burris MTAC 4.5-14 I had laying around on it. The bolt cycles smooth. The rifle overall handles well, I might mess around with the length of pull a little bit but its pretty comfortable for me with all the spacers. Waiting on some warmer weather to sight it in and shoot some groups, but I have high expectations.

Had a chance to get out the other day to sight in and shoot some groups. Weather was...COLD, otherwise sunny and no wind. Was shooting prone with a bipod and rear bag. Target was setup at 100 yards.
The good: Overall function was flawless, bolt is easy and smooth to manipulate, trigger was consistent and breaks clean with no creep. The rifle "feels" great all around.
The bad: Pretty mediocre at best accuracy. I know it's a new barrel and shooting conditions were not ideal, but I definitely expected better results. It seems to like the CCI a little better, which is unfortunate for me because I have a boatload of Hornady .17hmr that my CZ's and Tikka prefer. I will obviously spend a little more time with this rifle and see if a little break in period is needed. Groups 1,2 and 3 were shot suppressed. I removed the suppressor on groups 4,5 and 6 to see if accuracy improved, didn't seem to matter but did change POI a bit. No called fliers here, every shot felt like it was well placed.

Probably just my luck to get the one bad one that doesn’t shoot well. If I can’t get any decent results I’ll send it back to Bergara. They replaced a brand new 243 barrel on a new rifle for me that wouldn’t shoot well, shot great after the re-barrel. My last BMR was an absolute tac driver. I might have a chance tomorrow to try again with this one. Will post more groups when I do.Ugh, that's disappointing.
Well I have quite the update. I had a free hour today so I setup some fresh targets and grabbed the BMR-X. I had 2 new different types of ammo to try, CCI loaded with v-max (was shooting TNT before) and some Hornady 15.5 NTX. Not even sure where I got the NTX, but I had a partial box on hand and remember not having much luck with it in other rifles. Started out with the CCI since I had better luck with that brand the other day. Shot 2 groups and was already frustrated with 1.5"-2" groups. I didn't have high hopes but I decided I'd try to shoot one more group with the 15.5 NTX. Being aggravated with laying in the wet gravel I wanted to get it over with, so I was in a bit of a hurry not really taking my time. but then...WOW...that group tightened up a lot! Holy smokes...had to go down range and have a look. Alright not so bad now. Let's try one more and take our time. I could not believe the last group I shot at 100 yards with this rifle. 0.355" at 100 yards with a .17hmr is impressive to me. I was about to give up on this thing.
