I built a copy of the French MAS49-56 MSE, a rifle made for Interntional competition based on the MAS 49-56. Only 900 were made. I found an original scope and mount, an original cheek-piece, butt spacers and made a passable copy of the buttplate. I did not get the butt-stock right and was never happy with it. Well, I went to post it for sale and forgot the correct nomenclature for the scope so went to e-bay to look for the scope as they always have a couple for sale. Typed in MAS 49/56 and what pops up but a copy of the correct buttstock. Not sure if this is a new made copy or one of a rare run of 150 that was made 50 years ago. Coming from a surplus store in France. Guess I have to sell something else.

Seen that picture a ton of times and NEVER noticed a short barreled carbine!

Field modded? Assume it’s an M2 full auto?

Details! Very cool little burp gun!

Don't know much about it but the caption read M2. Almost certainly a field mod. Mine will be a little different based off the Inland M1 Advisor. Just add $200 to the Gov't and a folding stock.

Always thought the .30 Carbine was an underrated round. Why we use 9mm SMG's instead of .30 Carbine is beyond me. Chile/Brazil have the right idea with: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/11/24/taurus-ct30-carbine-last-joint-venture-famae/

In, probably, 1969 a SF1Lt. dropped by our shop. I don't remember his purpose for being there but he had a cut back M2 carbine. There was a bolt brazed to the slide. My guess would be the purpose would be to reduce the cyclic rate of fire.
Please explain how the bolt was brazed to the slide? Was it just a big hardware store bolt just to add mass to reduce the cyclic rate?
