Kind of an odd ball but I scored a TarHunt KSG 12 gauge bolt shotgun. These are pretty obscure to anyone that can freely hunt with a rifle all year long but as far as slug guns go, these things are legendary. Smith who makes them was the lead engineer for Lightfield (while they made slugs). McMillan stock, Jewell trigger, 2 round magazine. Growing up reading books from the early 90’s about slug hunting, I only dreamed of owning one. Serial 0008. Now to find the right slugs for it since Lightfield is no more 🤦‍♂️ Cheers!

Nice find! As far as slugs go you just need to know if the barrel is rifled or smooth. If it is rifled you can use sabot slugs. If it is smooth than stick to a standard slug, no sabot unless you want them to keyhole through whatever you are shooting.

Oh for sure. It is rifled. The problem is, most of the modern offerings of sabots are hotter than they used to be / won’t shoot as well through this. In ‘91 when this was made, Remington and Hornady bought KSGs at shot show for testing but never capitalized on the design. Lightfield was the only manufacturer that nailed the pairing between this slug gun and ammo. Unfortunately back then was the hay day of rifled slugs- especially in 12 gauge. I will have to find new old stock / buddies that have Lightfield boxes laying around to get this up and running… will strictly be for hunting but then again, who in their right mind wants to take a 12 gauge bolt slug gun to plink 😆
