I am about to put glass on an HK MR762 and I am looking at 3 options. Looking for actual user experience.

1 - Vortex Razor HD Gen II-E 1-6
2 - Trijicon Credo HX
3 - Nightforce ATACR 1-8

Not crazy about the FOV on the NF but I am a big fan of unlimited eye relief

Opinions please.

I own the HD II E and the ATACR.

The Razor lives on a Colt M4A1 and the ATACR is mounted on a SCAR 17.

I like the ATACR more. I prefer the reticle on the ATACR. I like having more mag on the 7.62 gun. FFP works better at the higher mag.

I’m currently on a suppressor buying binge, but once I get that out of my system I will replace the Razor on the Colt with another ATACR.

I'm going to say the MR762 rifle is more of a DMR rifle and less of a CQB rifle.

You might be able to be fine with 2x or 3x on the low end to get more on the high end.
Then just put a 45 degree RDS on it as well in case well you actually have to CQB with it by some odd chance.

On the MR556 a 1-10 LPVO would be great.

my personal range has 100-200-500
Then it won’t matter. Pick any of them. They are all supposed to hold up well on a 7.62 gasser.

It would help if you could get behind them before buying to see which one you like best, preferably outdoors with the diopter set up for your eyes.

There are a ton of threads on here about this topic and some great linked videos that compare that range of scopes. SuperSetCA on YouTube does excellent reviews with top-notch camera work behind each reticle showing pros and cons of them.

3-20x was a better fit for me, but I wasn’t doing run-n-gun

The funny part was that 10 years later it’s got a 6-36x now

Edit: NEVERMIND…re-read your post…enjoy pics instead

The Gen 2E is a very nice scope if 6x is enough for your eyes. The NF 2.5x10x42mm compact would also be a fine scope for your rifle.I own both and like then.

I like the vortex but something 3-15X would be much better for that rifle. You'll probably be shooting off a bench or bipod at 100 yard targets and steel or clay birds or whatever at a local range and not running/gunning. If you go with an LPVO you'll have it on max power all the time, you'll probably have to create a situation for yourself just to use the 1x, unless you plan on taking this rifle to some CQB carbine type class?

That was basically my situation: "Well shit, I'm at 8x almost all the time and more often than not I want more magnification than less." So 3-20x did the trick.

I know you did not mention the plxc 1-8 griffin mil as an option, but I think it should be in the mix for its solid 1x performance and ok 8x performance. Although I think the razor III 1-10 would be a better option if you are leaning more towards higher 10x magnification performance with still good 1x performance.

If you're asking which of those 3 LPVOs is the best, it depends. I'd say that the Credo HX and Razors are competitors and the ATACR is in its own class. The Credo and Razor are second focal plane scopes that excels at close range. A good alternative to a red dot/magnifier combo. Personally, I like the Razor more, but either does the job well. The Credo is usually cheaper, but Ive seen Razors on sale for $999 lately.

The ATACR is a first focal plane scope. It will do better at distance, but is more dependent on illumination for up close shooting. Of the 3, I think the ATACR is the best and most flexible optic, but it is a chunky boy.

Unless you need a scope with a 1x, I'd abandon the idea of an LPVO altogether. Something with a 2x or 3x bottom end will be much better for everything, except situations where you NEED a 1x.

The problem with alot of the lower powered scopes is no parallax. With superb IQ of the alphas, you want to be able to adjust the parallax for a crisp picture at distance. It's expensive as hell but there is really nothing else comparable out there.

The Trijicon Credo® HX 1-10x28 is a FFP MOA scope. The Trijicon Credo® 1-10x28 is a FFP MIL scope.
I have the Trijicon Credo® 1-10x28 FFP MIL and it is a great scope with daylight illumination.
NRA- American Hunter just did a review of the Trijicon Credo HX on 1-9-2025 (www.americanhunter.org · content · review-trijicon-1Review: Trijicon 1-10x28mm Credo HX | An Official Journal ...)

This is a huge factor. I was at the gym today, and one of the guys next to me was having trouble reading the screen 30ft from us. At first I literally thought he was joking, but he was serious, he could not see it very well. Vision is one of the most personal physical attributes, along with hearing.
