Visitors to the US and non-immigrant alien visa holders cannot buy or possess firearms or ammunition without an exemption (any hunting license from any state counts as an exemption).
Thanks, did not know that. I work with a lot of resident aliens and a few own guns, and I have taken a few others out shooting with me. Was not aware of the visitor prohibition.

No form is required for ammunition, but 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) still makes it illegal for them to purchase or posses ammunition without the exemption.
