Who makes the rounds? OSHA? In the middle of nowhere where an "antique" rig is getting it done? Nope. Very few people give a shit, and why should they. Telling those dudes they need to stop and not feed their families would be quite difficult. That's definitely not the sketchiest thing I have seen (and done) on a lease that's for sure.

Let me put it this way. Most of the stuff you see is the way it was done back in the day when men were iron and derricks were wood. But lawsuits and safety departments have done away with this stuff on any "modern" drilling rig. IF this video is a legit drilling operation, it's probably owned by an individual and drilling on their own property. Or the video was just made for old times sake to show how it used to done. OSHA has regulated this stuff away for any shorenuff legitimate drilling contractors. The term "outlawed" refers to violations of OSHA safety regulations in the newer gentler oilfield. The facts pointed out previously that the rotary table was not locked, nor were the tongs used to apply the proper torque to the connections tells me this video was made strictly for the sake of making a video.

As soon as the first knock just touched the door, I threw the door open wide and Miko went charging into their midst bellowing her war cry "BARG ARRG WARG WARF!!!" Miko was very proud of herself for that performance.
I had to spend about 10 minutes picking up all the scattered Watch Tower pamphlets from my lawn and the street. Totally worth it. Those people still haven't come back.
