Rifle Scopes MK5 HD 2-10x new reticles coming?

Stupid thing is the H27D is very very close to being ideal.
Take the centre and horizontal bars, add the PR2 tree and you have a excellent reticle.

I hope Leupold is going to pay me royalties for my new reticle design.

I would've bought the thick bars closer to the centre, but so long as illumination is strong enough this should be a nice reticle.
Just too bad it took them 18months to bring this out and are charging an extra $200 over the illu. TMR reticle.

If they put this in the Mark 4 2.10 and sold it for around $1200-1400 that would be amazing.

Interesting reticle, I like that it’s a 0.5 mil for speed / simplicity but of course I’m only seeing that they offer it with illumination for another $500 haha
No surprise there, Leupold is convinced hefty up charges for illumination is what the market wants. Been doing it for years now even though every other major mfr has done the opposite.

Mark4 is a 4x erector. So it would only be a 2-8.

It's 2.5-10. I'm sure Leupold will keep the reticle a premium only option in the MK5 for at least a year.

Based on the Team Sniper, Mil, MARSOC, etc comps i've seen, this reticle is a win in the MK5. Cover the body or head with the horseshoe will get you impacts out to 350 with the average 77gr dope. Pass that then you're in the tree for better target picture then dial for your smaller targets.

How do you like the .1mil reticle thickness at max mag?
If I get time in the next day or two I’ll try to take pics. I love the reticle, and can’t think of any ways I’d improve it honestly. I’ve got it on a 14.5” block ii, and I think it would be good on a mk12 type rifle as well. To me it’s a dmr or hunting optic that will do great in those roles out to 900-1k. Obviously it’s not a thin f class optic meant for shooting tiny groups at 1k.

Yeah I’ve been waiting pretty hard on this one. It’s the only game in town as it sits before the ZCO.

Pics from my beat/basic 3.5yr old se potato are terrible. I rushed, didn’t have focus or parallax set either. Hopefully they are somewhat helpful :/. 66% plate is at around 140yds. Pics are at 2x & 10x. I’d try to do more but I’ve had some bull shit flu or Covid crap for the last 5 days.

I like the scope but the Steiner H6xi, in my opinion, is a better option. The weights and lengths are comparable, the H6xi is much less expensive even compared to the non-illuminated HD5 and almost 1K cheaper than the illuminated version.

I could see it being a better option on a more precision rig. But then I’d want more mag. The cmr is much better than the reticle on the h6xi for my uses on a 2-10 ish optic imho. Steiner should really make a cmr or fc dmx- ish reticle for the h6xi.

Also from what I can find, the real world price difference between the h6xi and the illum mk5 cmr 2-10 is right at $480+-

Honestly if I ever found my self wanting to move from the sfp 2.5-10x42 nxs on my mk12, I’d probably give a hard look at the Steiner.

That price difference is illuminated H6xi vs non-illuminated Mk5, correct? Eurooptic has the H6xi (mil reticle) for a little over $1500.

No. It appears you are going off of leupolds msrp. I paid $2049 shipped for mine just a few weeks ago. Yep euro is like 1560 on the Steiner + tax. So it’s less than a $500 difference.

Eta: also I’m fairly certain leupold doesn’t offer a non illum cmr 2-10. I could be wrong though.

Who has them in stock? I don’t see the model listed on Eurooptics.
It appears that leupold sent the first batch of 179707’s (black model) out about 3-4 weeks ago. I saw several places with them in stock at the time. Some at full msrp and others in the 2000-2100 range. I got mine from saoguns. I ordered on 2/16 and got one of the last ones they had. I’ve got no idea how long they were in stock but it probably wasn’t more than a few days. I would just search 179707 & 179709 in gundeals or wiki.

Eta: back in stock at sao but they are a smidge more than what I paid. Keep in mind sao was no tax for me which is huge on 2grand ymmv. https://www.saoguns.com/product/leu-mark-5hd-2-10x30-35mm-m5c3-ffp-illum-cmr
A lot of hits come up on gun deals as Instock.

The Steiner H6Xi MOA reticle is a lot closer to that new CMR reticle than the MRAD one. It would be great if they made a mil version of the MOA reticle.
