This is the latest random power trip from the almighty mods at r/longrange. The cognitive dissonance is astounding. Apparently a lightweight hybrid rifle is only acceptable if you're pretending to hunt at an NRLH comp., otherwise you're a complete idiot for even considering it. Then there's the relentless parroting and hivemind that the anonymity of the internet offers. And the constant cucking for the mods as if they're God's gift to the shooting sports. Who even are the mods and why should anyone listen to them. Don't get me started on the insecure douche that is lockybalboaprime. They should really change the name to r/PRScirclejerk. Am I the only one that just can't stand that group anymore?

I got told something along the lines of “he pushed Bushnell until he left for Reddit” or something similar. It was on the other forums thread.

Don’t follow the Bushnell threads
Sounds about right. The only thing those dudes are more obsessed with than jerking off the mods is cucking for Bushnell. Sounds like Hollowoodsx or whatever that dipshit's name is on there, he was always shilling for Bushy and made a big deal out of his leaving.

"Long range hunting" has been a rock solid tradition of the western states since the mid 1860s. The key to being ethical and doing it right is having the right platform for the game and the ranges you will be shooting at, and being sure that you ARE capable by clanging steel silhouettes at these ranges until you can do it with repeat precision upon waking up at the asscrack of dawn with your eyes still half closed.

I have felt that what should limit the distance of the shot is a number of factors. Bullet performance at impact, which is more about velocity than "energy." Making sure it is a shot in the zone of both heart and lungs. Even on a deer, the vital area is large because the lungs are large but the actual sweet spot is about an 8 inch diameter. In my opinion, even a really good shooter with a 1 MOA gun should shoot no further than 400 yards.

Which gets to the points of others here. Make sure you have gear that is up to the task.

On the other hand, even Aaron at Gunwerks now regrets his infamous video of his son using a 7 RM on an elk at 1,376 yards. They got the bull and harvested him but he was not happy with how the bullet performed and would not do that again, today. Some say it was just advertising for the Gunwerks 7 RM. To be fair, his son was always practicing at the 1,000 yard range they have access to.

I had another discussion with someone at a different time and it was like pulling teeth but I got him to put his foot down and say that 400 yards is the farthest you should shoot at any game. And, of course, there are hunters who get elk with archery gear, which is more like 20 to 40 yards, a tenth of the distance.

In my state, in the state drawing for mule deer hunt at the Caprock Canyon SP, they would advise that you need to be able to shoot at least 200 yards. Turns out the canyon is just scrub brush and rocks. No trees to hide in.

Going back to bullet performance, choice of caliber and bullet style can really depend on how you expect to shoot. Some bullets perform better at longer distances.

I have not been to that reddit or any reddit.

We have some Fudd's on our hunting club that shouldn't take shots past 100yds because they have never taken the time to learn how to shoot a damn rifle and then we have a few guys that have no problem dropping deer at 400+ yards.

It's always the same fuck ups that bloody deer that you have to stay and help find their deer if you can.

My point is skill level dictates how long is unethical....IMO

If people are on Reddit discussing long range then they deserve whatever stupidity befalls them. This forum and MDS are the only two long range forums I have time for. As for long range hunting-what kind of faggots say it has to be limited to under 300 yards? Just because the army can’t teach people to shoot past 300 doesn’t mean those same people can’t learn and become very skilled long range hunters.

Even on a deer
Deer are a over populated Varmint.

People have no issues taking questionable shots on hogs / coyotes / wolves.

But the majestical my peepaw taught me to hunt deer. With its crop and car and person destroying and disease spreading habits. Nah they get a pass.

Looks like fucknuts @Lockybalboa is on here too lol just how tiny is your dick to make you behave like such an insecure retarded little child?
r/ is filled with them ,i really believe many of them possess a weapon only when they are logged on to COD in their mommies basement or the ones that post pictures of their DONK rifles in the most dirty room in the house and feet
