It is an integral lug, just no integral pic rail. At that price comes with hawkins hybrid rings and the new 75 degree impact bolt. Can take any bolt from a 737r per altus. I think it’s actually a decent deal. I ordered one

Ahh, looking at it there was a line all round the receiver at the lug so I assumed it was not integral. I do trust Tate to put out a spectacular product.

When I talked to the guys at Altus and ordered mine it sounded like they only had a few. I don’t believe it to be an altus exclusive.

Schedules finally aligned and I was able to pick up my 707r. Same great feel, fit, and finish of a 737 but on a diet. Really awesome package and I will be getting more. My 22 creed 20” bartlein carbon barrel arrives on Monday so I will update with more pics then.

I’ve always been a zermatt/origin fanboy because of the pricing and bang for the buck. I think this may be my new number one. Once I get some rounds through it that will confirm. Action runs as smooth as my 737s, and maintains almost all the great features. I did throw one of my other barrels on and it headspace’s and timed near perfectly. Not saying they always will, but in my one of one it looked like it was cut for the action

I recently picked mine up from Altus and really like it thus far.

shorter bolt throw is great, and it’s smooth.

It’s not quite like comparing an origin to a TL3 yet but it is getting closer, price wise. Not to mention your only lacking an integral rail at this point, the707 does have pins for the rail too

It’s a production and price point balance would be my guess. Titanium has its own problems, other than cost there are known issues with bolt lug setback on larger calibers. I don’t think we will see any more titanium actions from impact until there are design changes.

Talking to the guys at impact about this action, it checks a lot of boxes. In my mind, it’s like the bighorn origin vs TL3. It’s a win in my book.

Like a Big Country said below - think of it like an origin. Except in this case it has almost all the same features. All except the integral rail. It’s a cheaper and slightly lighter option than a 737 that takes the same prefits, has more optic mounting options, and maintains the same characteristics as a 737. Don’t see how that’s not a win.

I really liked mine. I ended up getting a steal on an NBK so I moved mine along, but I will likely be getting another when the time comes

He is ignored so I could give two shits what that retard has to say.

It's not much cheaper. Actions are the cheapest part of any rifle you will ever buy. You can shoot one for years and sell it for almost as much as you paid. They last practically forever and are the heart of the rifle. Savings $2-300 and removing one of the best features of the action is retarded. An integral rail will NEVER come loose. Weight savings is negligible. A few oz can be saved elsewhere in much less critical areas.

There are better ways to save weight without removing the strengths of the platform.

They should have did something like the anti x if weight savings was the goal. Or use more titanium.

No one ever who built a full custom rifle is like damn I could afford 4500 but not 4800 so thank God I got the cheaper action. It's like 5% cost difference before optics and everything else.

All this shit is going to do is make people look at lone peak harder as an option for a lighter non cucked full featured action.

I'm glad Tate is able to sell more shit but I also think people buying this are pretty dumb.

Bolt rings on an integral rail. 2 points can loosen. Scope cap screws and ring clamp screws

Indeed, an integral rail will never come loose.
Likewise, a properly pinned and screwed base will never come loose.

Defiance Rebels and Surgeon RSRs set the pace with solid scope base mounts secured with 4x 8-40 screws and two 1/8" steel locator pins to isolate the shear load away from the screws. Those setups are bomb proof. Seekins Precision and a few others accomplished the same feat with screws and a recoil lug. Those setups are bomb proof.

When you choose an integral rail you are settling for a shorter rail length. This offers fewer options to properly place the scope rings which can be a big deal with short action receivers and larger size scopes.

While mathematically you can make an argument, the user market shows a different result. If $300 difference in price was not a factor for many, ARC's CDG, Zermat's Origin and MacBros EVO would not be marketable. The opposite seems to be true since all 3 have enjoyed crazy big success.

Thanks for the Response Terry. I have a ton of respect for you, your opinion and your contributions to the community.

I look at the CDG, Origin, Tenacity (classic) as a $900 action not a $1500 one. The difference there, and they are all great actions for the money is more like $5-600. That's more substantial. As the prices have creeped up, they are no longer the value they once were and it makes it harder to recommend them when for a little more you can get a full featured flagship.

I would still always recommend someone to buy the best action they can and make a sacrifice elsewhere, as they upgrade they will always have that action as the base of their build. We all change stocks, chassis, barrels, scopes, brakes, ect..... A good action will last forever. Surgeon is a great example. It gives up almost nothing to a modern action.

Even a pinned and torqued rail is a failure point. People dick around and user error is the most likely cause of issues. An integral rail removes that possibility. Its one less thing to check on my checklist in diagnosing a rifle issue.

I shoot almost exclusively shoot Tates actions and Wades barrels. Ton of respect to those guys. Doesn't mean I see the allure of this action or agree with others rationale on why they should buy it.

And yes, there are a ton of dumb mother fuckers out there.

The one thing I don't understand is the Lug area. It looks like a pinned/2 piece Lug action but its supposed to be integral. Why the machine cuts and the appearance of staking when its integral?

That was the thing that me as well, still confused (easily done). The only thing I can think of is they actually increased the diameter of the action at the lug by a bit. The line appears to be a the edge of the re-inforcement. My "evidence " is the shallow scallop at 7 o'clock and the line disappears.

My other guess is that they relieve the front a tad because blending toolpaths like that is a royal bitch and isn't necessary. Could also be to ensure that it doesn't ever interfere with any rails even if they're long. The side swipes are probably there to remove the radius left from the endmill.

This action ticks no boxes for me. It's heavy-ish, no frills, or unique features other than 75°, priced at the lower side of mid tiered action, or top of bottom tiered actions, however you Wana view it.

This action is targeted at guys who are building a bdl or aics mag only setup. That's where it fits into the impact lineup, only functional dissimilarities VS the 737/nbk, load port and detach Pic rail.

They designed an action with minimal cycle times in the machine, priced it kinda competitively, using their popular name to move an action that now fits sportsman's needs, maximizing their possible revenue to machine time.

It'll sell cuz it's an Impact, the official action of the prs
