Will be shooting a bolt gun in .308 and a MSR 6.5 CM
My question is does a suppressor effect accuracy? In other words
will my groups get better or worse or stay the same as shooting with or without one.
Suppressor will be a 7.62SD AAC Fire arms shouldnt matter as just wondering if have a negative
effect on the groups. Thx

Is your 7.62SD using a ratchet mount or has it been modified by Ecco?

My 7.62SD with a 51T mount had a different POI every time I took it off and put it back on. Totally inconsistent. Ecco fixed it and I now have a A419 Hellfire mount and the POIchange is exactly the same every time I put it on.

I noticed no difference of group sizes with it on vs off. Just a POI change.

Thanks for the replies, just figured it might effect accuracy like a crown on a rifle barrel.
Have to look into the ecco fix, never heard of problems or the fix thanks

POI shift is normal, you are adding a 1-2 lb weight to the end of the barrel. But, most people find that shift repeatable. I wouldn't worry about the fix, unless you have an actual problem.

Only once have I seen accuracy go to hell, and that was a 19 Calhoun through a lane monocore. Never saw it anywhere else with that can or rifle.

That said I always use the same can for the same rifle. All load development and testing is done with the can. No idea if any of my loads shoot half as good without, but I don't need to know.

I have the same can and mount.

^^^ This.

Your adding weight to the barrel end. That's going to change harmonics. You will not group the same and poi changes as well.

Load development needs to be how you intend to shoot it.

Even a tuner adjusting the weight by 1 / 32 of an inch forward or back changes group size. Tuners weigh less than a can and are shorter.

You can get better results with your 51T for your AAC 30 cal can by dressing the mating surface on the mount till you get a better lockup. It should sound like a tuning fork when you catch the last thread and it snaps in place.

imho

Suppressor has been noted to improve accuracy on my CZ 457 MTR. This is a short term effect. While it did initially improve accuracy with more than one type of ammo it will change during extended course of fire. The accumulation of deposits inside the can will change weight and then harmonics too. Also the crown will become fowled much more quickly.

I have been doing alot of experiments with ammo across a CZ 457 and a Vudoo. So far they both love Lapua Center-X best.

See attached photo. Can was a Spectre 2. Circled groups were with the can.
Top right 2 groups were not 5 shots. Was dialing in the difference for SK.
