In 2002 we were flying from Tulsa to Burbank to spend Christmas with my brother in law in LA. While waiting to board our flight I heard someone say “hey, that’s Klinger down there”, I knew Jamie Farr had been in town for a theater production so I walked down the terminal and sure enough Jamie was sitting there. Jamie saw me and I said that I used to watch MASH with my dad and he got what was obviously a polite smile on his face and I said it’s nice to meet you Mr Farr, when I said his name his whole demeanor changed and we talked for 10 minutes. When we landed in Burbank he got off first being seated in first class and he stood on the jetway and waited until we got off the plane to say goodbye and wish us a good trip.

We were camping near Angles Camp CA many years ago. We went in to the little convenience store to get some gas and something to eat. I was paying for my stuff near the entrance when it went dark. I turned and saw one of the largest human beings blocking the sun light as he was ducking and turning sideways to enter. Everyone said "Hey that's Jaws". I said "That's not Jaws, that's Richard Kiel". He got a big smile on his face because I knew his name. Shaking hands with him was like shaking hands with an Alaskan brown bear.
