Triad Tactical shipping

Could someone with experience tell me what the deal is with the shipping protection Triad Tactical uses? Am I signing up for some third party thing by using it?
Yes it is a 3rd party.

1. Insurance (ROUTE) is offered as an OPTION during checkout. The option offers live tracking information, an easy claim process and quick processing of resolved claims. Triad does not insure orders which don't include the ROUTE coverage. If there is a delivery issue with your order, please contact ROUTE (you will get email notice for order). If you chose to delete the ROUTE coverage, your order will not be insured and you will have less access to tracking information, and will be responsible for your own claim processing.

Was it because of the insurance or other reasons? My position is that I'm not fond of going through a third party for tracking and I don't want to make yet another account.
Yes, the 3rd party insurance.

I ship to my customers for a living, every day. I package the product and decided what shipping methods I will allow. I engage 20 years worth of shipping experience “best practices” to make sure the customer’s package arrives safety. If there is an issue, my customer deals with me and I either file a claim or eat it.

Why would I make my customer deal with a 3rd party if something has gone wrong in transit. They have already suffered inconvenience, delay and hassle. My job is to sell them not only a product but a good experience in the process…….

I never buy third party protection. That’s on the seller and I have yet to have my cc company think otherwise.

IMO it’s free insurance for seller, and they make people think for some reason if they’d didnt buy it it’s their problem.

Not to mention forcing you to give your info Name, Address, eMail etc. to a 3rd party.

Hopefully this will go over with consumers like a lead balloon. If not, it will become a trend.
