Word on the street here in Oregon says the insurance companies that run the state Medicaid plans are running scared. Tens of thousands of Medicaid recipients are illegals and the insurance companies make bank off the state because of them. They stand to lose millions if/when those illegals get deported.

There has been at least four decades of nothing but illegal alien labor in the construction industry. I'm not sure where the labor will come from to fill that void. It's not like Americans in the trades have been sitting at home unemployed for forty years waiting to go back to work. The American labor force is gone, made extinct by illegals.
I'm not sure who will mow the yards and frame and roof the houses now and I don't care. The important thing is we saved the country from being destroyed and made extinct.

Forty years ago landscape businesses were for commercial real estate or handled large estates. Lawn mowing as what kids did for pocket money. Or summer jobs. Like having summer jobs in construction, fast food, waitering, or on farms. Today the lazy tourist class and in-debt-up-to-their-eyeballs “so-called middle class” won’t even rake their own leaves. Out town is overrun with landscape companies and it’s like a competition to see who spends the most getting their yard manicured. And work 3 jobs and live paycheck-to-paycheck… to pay people to clean their yards and clip their roses.
Make mowing your own lawn great again!!! And there will still be plenty of jobs in landscaping… for youngsters and Americans!!!

Totally agree, but it really isn't a binary choice between open borders letting anyone and everyone in, and having immigrants/guest workers. Just about every other country on the planet seems to be able to do this without turning it into a clusterfuck. That this is somehow too hard or too complicated is utter bullshit. It is this way because some people want slave labor, and these are the people we need to imprison.
Democrats, starting with LBJ and his Great Society Bill created an out of control welfare state which was the beginning of decline of the work force.
Cut a lot of able bodied individuals off welfare and social programs and there will be plenty of replacements for the illegals being sent back to Mexico and the other central and South American countries.

I was a carpenter/builder for 25 years of my younger life. I started out pushing a wheelbarrow for $2 hr, going on to apprentice with some of the finest home builders, carpenters, boat builders, cabinet/ furniture makers in the country on the coast of Maine. There were days I drove thousands of nails with a hammer, until my hands bled. Over the years of hard work I became a craftsman. I was extremely gifted at what I did. When I started my own business, I accumulated a stack of letters of recommendations from customers.
When the economy went south, we were always the first hit and the last alleviated. So I learned to move to areas of the country that were expanding in growth. The problem was as I moved to these areas I would quickly learn that I was competing with illegal labor. At first they showed up with wheelbarrows and everybody said “oh they’re doing the jobs that nobody wants to do”. A few years later, they’re showing up with trucks full of tools and taking the jobs that I was bidding on.
As a white American, I was expected to pay taxes and to have insurance. The illegals did neither. I was also expected to provide the highest quality work, while the illegals that were under-bidding me we’re getting away with shoddy workmanship. I don’t know how many times I ran into a homeowner, I had bid work for and they told me their story of woe and how they wish they’d had me do the work. I finally threw in the towel and started a mail order web business.
While these illegals were sending their money back to Mexico. I was busy trying to raise a daughter and run a small construction business. I saw a lot of hard times. There were a lot of things I wished I could’ve done for my daughter, that I couldn’t do. So you see, this whole immigration thing is very personal to me.
There is a bullshit line that gets repeated over and over that we can’t survive in this country without illegal slave labor. It’s a lie perpetuated by people who either make money off, or save money by hiring illegals to work on their homes.
The sooner we stop repeating that line the sooner we can get a hold of this immigration problem. It’s never, ever, ever, going to go away until we cut off the supply of work and charity, that feeds it.
Rounding up the illegals is great, but what about the hajis living all over this country? Flint, Michigan is an example. Biden brought in all those “migrants” and dumped them all over the country and everyone seems to have forgotten them. I say round em up and ship them back as well.

You tried getting someone to replace a roof lately? Every company out there using Mexicans. I don’t know if they are legal or not and of course said company won’t tell you they are using Mexicans until they show up. Shouldn’t be on the homeowner but the biz employing them. Hell, even the insurance companies seem to be in on it.
On top of that I recently had to have my deck rebuilt, I went the composite route. An American built it originally and it was shit. Had to be replaced in under 8 years and that’s with doing everything I should have been doing to maintain it. I started to rebuild it myself but found it turned out to be more than I had thought that needed replacing. It’s a big deck. AKA I don’t have the time to rebuild it. It was either take a month off work and do it or do a little at a time that would have taken a year, most likely. So, I contact a reputable deck company, signed a contract, picked out the composite and so on. They started 12/5/24. I get home from work, at night and go and start inspecting the work. These were Americans. Looked like utter shit. Looked like they were strategically trying to hide damage that was there instead of replacing it, the job site was an utter disaster as shit was left everywhere. I was pissed! They even damaged some of the good stuff checking to see if it was damaged. I called up my rep who is/was awesome and asked him to meet me out here because I wasn’t paying $24k for some shit work like this. It was unacceptable. He comes out the next day and agrees with me and fires the crew he had on the spot, at least from this job. They got their ass reamed and were sent on their way, likely to another job as they said they didn’t know what happened, that they had used them in the past and they were fine. Anyways he said he is going to get me a more experienced and better crew out here and was sorry that things got started like this.
Well, I had to wait for the better crew to get off a job. But I’m glad I did. They were Mexican, every one of them, but they showed up on time, early morning, worked all day and their work was stellar. They rebuilt this thing the way it should have been done to begin with minus replacing my posts that are surrounded by a patio and cemented in the ground (not the way I would have done it but not their fault)! Anyways they put this thing together and did a fantastic job. Took 7 guys about 2 weeks to do it. Would have taken me a lot longer. He also set the steps and slope and all right, like it should have been done the first time. And not only did they do stuff right, they worked from sun up to beyond sun down and even cleaned the job site every night. Fantastic work. All Mexicans, the Americans sucked. And this isn’t the first time I’ve hired Americans to do the job and they were terrible. It’s a work ethic thing. Americans that can do a good job are out there but few and far and in between. And when you find them, they want a premium. I don’t mind paying people their worth. In fact, I’ve even hired Americans that did mediocre work and they claim it’s because of the price. I said well that’s stupid because you should have told me what you wanted to begin with if you didn’t quote me enough. Don’t lowball me, come do shit work and then blame me because you don’t like the price you set. Again, I don’t mind paying for good work. But I’m not paying a premium for shit work. I’ve talked to and know several contractors and they all tell me, if you aren’t using Mexican labor in that biz these days then you won’t make it. So the question is, where are all the Americans that know how and can do this work? They either aren’t out there or we are paying them to sit at home. I believe that sadly over the decades there are fewer and fewer Americans that know how to do most of this stuff. We need to fix that, like now, or we are going to be in real bad shape in about 10 years.
Now, I want to end this with, it’s not entirely the Americans fault either, it’s your gov that let all these people in. Americans cannot compete with illegals or what is essentially slave labor! It’s not just in the trades either. You can hire people from other countries to do almost anything for next to nothing and more and more businesses are doing this. From IT work to design work to photography, almost anything you can think of. We can’t compete with the Indians or Pakistanis etc. some might call this free enterprise and how capitalism works. Sure, until it doesn’t. Then you find yourself exactly as we are!

Nobody worked harder than me, first in a rock quarry swinging a 3lb. hammer and 8lb. sledge cutting 8 tons of masonry stone every day, in all kinds of heat and cold until I had blisters that became callouses to this day. No motherfucker EVER worked harder than me. Then I graduated to a masonry helper, pushing wheelbarrows of mud and loading scaffolds with rock. Then I learned how to lay rock, then I went on my own. Then I realized i couldn't compete against the new surge of wetbacks that were allowed in in the 80's. Builders and homeowners don't care about craftmenship over 3rd World prices and the quality of work went 3rd World.
I finally got into design / building custom luxury swimming pools because the wetbacks have no vision and cant create shit. They couldn't do my work. I won National Awards.
Having said that, I defy you to call a roofing company, or a masonry company to roof or rock your house that doesn't have some, if not most, wetbacks doing the majority of work. Thats not bullshit or repeating some line, thats reality.
How we're going to work around that, I don't know. But I do know white man built the skyscrapers and bridges of New York, the Panama Canal, the Hoover Dam and all of the dams up and down the highland lakes here and built America. We have to get off our asses and do it again, not retreat to the air conditioning and play video games or open a mail-order company.
Give out rolling 30 day work permits with required monthly hours with taxes. E-Verify every month. Strict enforcement and massive penalties for cheaters.
And have a 75 percent “tariff” on money sent out of this country.
