So Canada is going to boycott the USA?

Trudeau's party wanted the tariffs. They're getting crushed in the polls and if an election were held last week (before the tariffs), they probably wouldn't have gotten enough seat to even be considered an official party. They think that by getting the tariffs, they can portray themselves as defenders of Canadian freedom, or something to that effect. They also want the population to suffer so that they can offer covid style handouts to try and buy votes. That's the game they're playing. They know full well Canada will get crushed by the US, but like the Dems here, they'll do anything necessary to try and cling to power.

Mexico? who cares? maybe both can boycott us by keeping their exported people there. as usual, the decent people in both places will get the shaft. what is made there that can't be done better here? could hope that all this might keep our elite corp ass hats from sending more jobs to either place.
the goal of both leaderships i suspect is a move to stay in power of some kind.

Justin Castreau is only there b/c he prorogued (suspended) their Parliament. He's a lame duck with teeth and needs a bigger spanking from #47. I don't know if our northern brethren are waking up (the locking up of the accounts of those supporting the trucker protests should have opened their eyes that their liberal party is a fascist party. Their way or no way! must be their motto.

There isn't anything the population can do other than protest:

1) There is no way to get him out with Parliament prorogued.

2) The other far left party propping them up (NDP) is also getting killed in the polls. The only time they get any hint of power is when they can prop up a minority government and make them pass some of their stupid shit. So, they're not in any hurry to take Trudeau down and hand the reigns to the Conservatives who will take a wrecking ball to their bloated government like Trump is doing.

It's pretty disappointing.

39 million population and what… 20 percent will engage in boycott?

Another thought came to mind. Stuff is typically 1.5-2x the price up there, they have a 13-22% sales tax (depending on the province) and people lose about 47% of their paychecks from taxes and mandatory deductions. So, a similar sized population up there is probably only buying half as much as that size population does here.

Besides... most of what they buy is probably Peter Puck T-shirts, Anne Murray albums and Geddy Lee posters. Like any of that makes us any money...

Not like they spend it on tipping or anything!

And WTF... Can't they even spell Getty correctly?

Flew into Edmonton for an airshow. Goto the car rental place to pick up our car. The place was backed up and the nice lady at the desk pointed us to a mini fridge and said "help yourselves while you wait". Open the fridge and it is packed with beer. Mostly Labatts. At a car rental place. In a country with stricter DUI laws than the US.

Being US servicemen we of course had way more than we should. The lady didn't bat an eye giving us the keys.

That was a start to a really memorable evening in Edmonton.

Love me some Edmonton, and just Alberta in general! One of my fave places on the planet! If the US ever somehow took over Canada I’d be fast tracking to move to Alberta!
