Ok, so I’m looking for the absolute shortest and lightest 9mm pistol can*. So far I’ve found:

For comparison, I have the truly tiny Gemtech Aurora II, which is awesome, direct thread (no booster), and works fine with my Glock. Of course, this is an aluminum-bodied wipe+lube suppressor, so it’s for emergencies only. I’m looking for something that doesn’t wear out so fast and require repacking.

I can only speak for the FLY9, but everytime I pull it out and let other folks try it, they’re all shocked it’s THAT quiet. Like stunned faces and then they feel inferior with their other 9mm cans. Same normally happens with my Magnus too.

Granted for you, it’s going to be noticeably louder in the short config, obviously.

Huh. Didn’t hear about that one! Thx man.

I own a couple Banish cans (30 and 223) and while they are nice, that company is weird.

But at 2.7oz, you can’t get much lighter than that. I wonder if the Mack bros make those for them? They are the OEM for the two cans I own, and their work is top notch.

I guess they’re not releasing it right now to the public as a stand-alone can??? They mention it’s currently just for the government right now, and they’ll bundle it with a gun later this year.

Oh, I own that can and it’s great on a subgun. I’m just looking for the lightest & shortest can so I can get away with not using a oiston.

The Obsidian 9 is a little long at 4.85” and it’s heavy at 8.7oz. One needs to use a piston for it to run reliably on pistols.

That’s why I haven’t put it on the list.

My only criticism of the can, beyond the length/weight, is that the tube is aluminum. Can’t clean that with CLR or it gets eaten. Didn’t know that fact when I bought it.

The reason for the Glock boiled down to, unfortunately, holsters.

All suppressor holsters (except one) are IMHO sorta janky.

My use outside of the range would be a backup when hunting alone with a bolt action. Basically for the low probability of running across a threatening cougar/bear/dog. I’ve got hearing issues and want to keep hearing the best that I can.

The best holster for suppressor use is also the cheapest, but works only with a Glock 17/19. It’s the Crye Gunclip and it’s only $40. It’s super solid, as in, the gun is NOT going to fall out of that thing. Doesn’t require a light, but accepts them. Easy to draw from too, but different.

Beyond the Crye, last time I looked, the Surefire Masterfire was the best, but required a light, it’s relatively heavy compared to the Crye, and $$.

I thought the Spectre 9 was pretty amazing when I bought it about a year ago. I would (and did) buy another. Specs below for reference:

Length: 4.76", Diameter : 1.37",
Weight: New, No Mount: 111 gms. / 3.90 oz.
Weight: New, With SiCo Booster and EZ-LOC Piston: 189 gm. / 6.65 oz.

I bought a OCL Lithium for pistol use and kinda regret that now. It's not very quiet for it's size, but I moved it to PCC duty where I'm much happier with that.

The Lithium beat the Fly9 for what became a critical factor for me: The Fly 9 does not use the HUB (Alpha / Bravo / Charlie) system of standard interfaces. I would pick the Spectre 9K, if it uses Alpha, for that reason.

The HUXWRX Flow 9k Ti is starting to hit the streets and reports seem favorable. It's a little longer and heavier than what are listed above. But the flow thru design does offer some advantages. Redit threads are reporting less port pop and residue back in the face when used on a pistol. Also less gassy than the Spectre. The Flow 9k Ti also ships with a complete 1/2x28 booster assembly. Other HUB options are available.
