Which to try first DNT 7-35 or the Bushnell Match Pro ED 5-30?

Have had both and would take the DNT between the two. Better glass than the Match Pro ED. Both have good usable reticle.

Another in that price range to look at would be the Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25.
I have a Strike Eagle on a CZ .22 I don’t shoot much, but don’t want to take it off. I thought I saw you had both so I was hoping you’d respond. How would you compare features like turrets, zero stop, etc.?

Thanks!

Jeff

Zero stop on the DNT is a simple set with the two screws but you can’t really set it to go under 0. Clicks are nice but a little bit of a hollow feel to them. Probably from the knob design itself.

The Match Pro knobs are nice too. Easy to use and nice clicks and it’s locking which I like. The zero stop is easy to set under the knob.

Both are decent scopes honestly but the glass is a little better in the DNT so all comes down to what you want. The Bushnell does have more CA but it’s workable. Bushnell is more money even with LE/mil discount and $200 more without it so depends on your budget also.

I sold my other Strike Eagle but have one arriving tomorrow so I can give you a little side by side glass between it and the DNT also as you have a SE already so you have a reference point.

Haven’t looked through my Strike Eagle in a while so I will do that. Mostly shoot NF 7-35 and a a couple NX8 4-32s occasionally an XTR III and a Gen 2 razor.

Yea Rob01, I’d like to hear what you think of the 3 scopes. I’m looking to get a budget scope, and have been looking at these 3 scopes.

I’m curious about the SE vs DNT also. I might have to pull my SE off a 10/22 to make weight on my centerfire.

The clicks on my Bushnell were relatively muted. They weren't mushy but they weren't as positive as my DNT was.

I believed on the DNT if I was going to rapidly adjust .1 or so quickly, I wouldn't have an issue confirming that I had only moved .1.

The Bushnell was just soft enough where I always wanted to visually confirm my movement.

I did like that the Bushnell had locking turrets. If that's a deal breaker for you then go with the Bushnell. Otherwise, my money would be on the DNT.

Bushnell customer support does not exist; nobody available via phone and no response to emails. The plastic turret retention screw slots are easily damaged if you use anything other than their stupid plastic tool which you'll lose 20 minutes after install; you can purchase MPED Pro replacement parts online which is handy because of the previously mentioned lack of customer support. The scope itself is fine, I've used it out to 1760 yards. If I had a do over I'd go the DNT route given the $200 price diff and fear of angering the DNT mafia.

Well I got to do a side by side at the house when I got home and got the SE mounted up. I have about 80 yards into the woods and took looks through both at limbs and small objects. I will say both are better than the Bushnell. At 25x, the SE max, they both looked pretty much the same for clarity. I was actually surprised as I expected the SE to be a little behind being on its max and the DNT being a 35x and turned down to 25x.

As someone mentioned the Bushnell clicks are a little muffled but both these are better. The DNT is the louder of the two and I think that comes from the larger turret and the open area inside it. You can feel and hear both good though.

Something’s I did notice was the DNT had a little more black around the outside of the eye box than the SE. Nothing that is super bad like a 4.5-30 Tract but the eye is behind the SE was more scope glass and less ocular. I also looked at the FOV and the SE was about 8.5 mils and the DNT was about 7.8 mils so both have a good FOV at 25x.

Below are some side by side pics to give an idea of OAL and turret size. Honestly glass wise it’s pretty much a push and would come down to how much power you want to be usable in the scope. If 25x is enough than either but obviously if you want 35x then the DNT is the choice.

I am sure I missed something but that’s a little break down between the two.

@Rob01 Thanks for the write-up and side by side comparison. I have been thinking about purchasing a DNT scope, and since I have a couple Strike Eagle scopes, your review really helps.
