Looking for what lock rings work with a SAC Nexus press. Obviously the SAC solo-loc rings work but I’m not a huge fan of them.

I know the Sinclair steel rings do not fit, The outer diameter is too large for the channel. I also have another aluminum cross bolt lock ring I’m unsure of the manufacturer that is too thick for the channel.

Forester cross bolt rings do fit.

I’d like to know if the Redding SS cross bolt rings fit or the Lyman cross bolt rings.

Redding makes some steel ones that work nice. Just make sure the tension screw is accessible, it will rub the press if you try to turn it while installed. I like the SAC ones also, adjusting the die is easier.

Maybe I got a bad ring but my sizing die with the solo loc ring moves .002-.004 when I tighten the cross bolt. Not sure how to explain it but looking at the cross bolt end I noticed the tabs that protrude from the press would deflect when tightening the cross bolt. And I’m not gorilla tightening it either. Just enough so the die can’t spin. Makes it a real pain to set the shoulder bump. That was when I first bought a solo-loc ring to use with a co-ax press. I haven’t looked at the rings that came with the nexus yet.

Not sure what the problem could be. I would assume all the SAC rings would be all the same. The ones I have work perfect. The orientation of the tension screw makes adjusting the die extremely easy. Maybe call SAC and see what they have to say about it.
