I am having a Remington 40-x converted to a 300PRC I need to get a muzzle brake. Can anyone recommend a good one? Thanks

I have been impressed with the AREA419 Hellfire so far.
But I'm sure there are more efficient designs just depends on what you are after.
The Hellfire is easy to take on and off for cleaning or swapping to other barrels or running a suppressor with the adapters.

I like the insite arms heathen 4 port, not to much blast on the shooter and it’s effective at calming recoil for PRS stuff. What’s the application you’re going to be using the rife for, because that can sort of tailor what brake you’re looking for.
I had the Area 419 Hellfires on my rifles and keep getting pounded in the chest by the concussion. I tried an EC Tuner brake and all that went away. I have 3 of those now and never turn the tip for tuning I just prefer the brake over any others.
I ran a hellfire for a little while on a 20” 308 and it definitely gave a solid thump to the body
Get a can like a civilized person. Brakes are for uncircumsized Philistines.
They have a 2-port Hellfire that works really nice on 20" rifles. I use it on a 6-arc and its meant to be less punishing to the shooter, since the ports are not directed as back to the rear.
I have silencerco ASR 3 ports on 3 different rifles. Probably not the best muzzle breaks there is but they QD to my suppressor so I like them for that.

You’re going to want something that “high performance” and will take advantage of all that gas volume. Now what’s going to be the use for the rifle, is it going to be a hunting rig, range toy, ELR comp rifle because that will kind of change what you will want in regards to a brake.
THank you for the response. I plan to use it for an ELR rifle along with a similar set up for a 6.5 PRC. I now use a 338 LM but it is getting a bit heavy for an 80 year old. Some year I will have to slowdown and I am preparing these for that.
So I did a little looking around and apparently the brake from salmon river solutions is supposed to be the bee’s knees.
I'll throw my own hat into the ring here... Our brakes are self timing and regularly test out at the very top of the heap for recoil reduction and the best at not concussing the shooter. In fact, that was an integral component of the design criteria: must not put blast back on the shooter.
A 300 PRC would be be served with a Shockwave brake but if you want a smaller profile or a super light brake (we have the lightest, full featured brake on the market) then here's the Ultralight Jetblast.
