AR-15 Weapon mountable mag holster?

You want to store a spare mag on your rail? Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I’d just do a mag coupler if I needed to have two mags on board for some reason.

When I was in my tacti-kewl stage - I ran parallel (paird) couplers…. It was heavy, felt unbalanced and completely messed with my previously “mastered” mag changes….
I went back to belt holster or chest/carrier mounted configuration.
I think you should definitely try it, but keep an open mind, especially if you have an established muscle memory for a single mag changes.

Just get a micro rig and keep it next to your rifle. You will have 3x the ammo, can carry comms and med gear and whatever else, and you won't be messing up the balance of your rifle or adding weight where it will feel the heaviest to carry.

Boonie Packer redi-mag if still made, otherwise a Magpul D-60 if just need one large capacity that is reliable and not ridiculous in size.

Folks, I appreciate the suggestions. This is for mandatory magazine changes during rimfire barricade events. This magazine is the smallest I could find (15rnd in a 10rnd footprint).
In the past I shot a bolt rifle, and the weapon mounted mag was always in the same location and easily swapped with economy of movement (vs seeing folks fumbling through a belt holster Mag change, where the mag was positioned in a wide variety of angles depending on the shooter’s stance).

The simple U shaped movement of a mag change (with parallel mags) should be the ticket on most any barricade/position.

I ran a Boonie Packer Redi-mag for several years at work before we got in car weapon mounts. They work well but you have to practice with them. I had both mags drop free several times when I first started using it. I am not sure how a mag coupler would work with rimfire but with standard 5.56 I have had issues with and seen other have issues with the top round in the spare mag slide forward or pop out of the magazine under recoil and when moving and shooting.
