Most certainly the name doesn't match the actual function. Freaking frauds and cut outs for agency is all they are. I have known several guys personally who's actual funding came via NGO cut out and I assure you, they were in fact just agency guys doing stuff agency didn't want on the books.

Conflict of interest isn't necessarily a disqualifier, but for a judge, failure to disclose potential conflicts of interest is a problem (28 U.S. Code § 455). I don't know if it was disclosed in this case, but it certainly should have been. And direct financial compensation is only one of the criteria which determines conflict, there are a number of other disqualifiers. If the conflict of interest was disclosed, there are a number of steps taken to determine if it meets those disqualifiers, and a process for appeals. Of course, nothing would stop a corrupt judicial system from declaring themselves free of conflict or able to set aside their potential bias.

The funniest part is that IIRC the reasoning was loss of funding leading to irreparable harm for the people overseas who receive that funding - which is kinda the point, American taxpayers are tired of their money going to pay for other peoples' shit overseas when they cannot afford to pay their own bills at home.

I'm hoping that the corruption can be cut to a level that enables us to have real elections again, and with real candidates. I know that's a real long shot but it's our only shot. Have to admit, we've never had anyone like Trump and Elon. Though I don't fully trust Elon motivation, I do belive he is actually hell bent on getting the books straight. He's autistic and that's his thing. Perhaps we can get paper ballots back and voter ID nation wide, while cutting this mass of money that funds the machine. That would be a big deal.
