I see a lot of Carbon six barrels being bought and sold on here. I am wanting to re barrel a Bolt gun with one in 7MM-08, 20" for a can for use in a blind and truck. Are they any good? I expect .5 MOA or better

How many rounds did your first barrel last? Why did you scrap it? Velocity swings or groups?Does half inch at 300 yds work for your purposes?

This particular barrel is on a hunting rifle. I loaded 50 rounds and it lasted me for three or four years. This year I had to load another 50 rounds so I did a quick seating depth test before loading another 3 years worth of ammo.View attachment 7990542
I have had great luck with my 20" 6.5 PRC barrel. I have a 18" 6.5 Creedmoor barrel with 60 rounds down it that I don't shoot anymore. Both are Tikka pre-fits.Any long term reports on this brand. I am in the market for my first Carbon barrel. I want to know I am buying something quality that will last.
I bought one like 2 years ago (2023) it didn't show up until the end of last year (2024), and when it came in, it wouldn't shoot worth a shit. They replaced it no questions asked. The new one shoots better (just under MOA), but still nowhere near 1/2 MOA like they claim. I might be sending this one back for a full refund. I've spend almost as much as a barrel cost in reloading components trying to get both of these damn barrels to shoot... I'll stick with Proof, instead of shitty McGowan blanks inside the CarbonSix barrels.Any long term reports on this brand. I am in the market for my first Carbon barrel. My reloading practices are just fine…Been loading precision ammo for almost 20 years. My runout is 0.0005” measuring every single round loaded, and my charge weights are within 0.05 grains. My loading and shooting are not the issue… It’s just shitty McGowan barrels. And the fact I’m 0-2 from the same company, 2 different chambers, and 2 different barrels, is drawing a common denominator in the mix, and its not me.Going to do you a favor and remind you it's a barrel. It's going to get the most wear and tear out of the entire rifle, and it's going to be the shortest lived component.
Barrel life is completely dependant on cartridge and usage.
I remember all the guys shitting all over McGowan while praising proof back when proof was using McGowan blanks.
Then proof had a year or two of riding the struggle bus trying to figure out their own blanks.
Everyone has lemons time to time. I discovered a lot more accuracy out of my reloading practices than changing barrel brands.
@chevy_man Not sure why you’re laughing…

I didn’t argue with anything…I made statements. I even stated one of my Aero barrels wouldn’t shoot. I paid my own damn money for a CarbonSix barrel…And it’s not even performing up to THEIR own standards that they guarantee, much less mine… Please, continue showing the forum how retarded you are.Because it's so easy to get you going.
Anything that isn't your favorite thing is garbage. Plenty of target pictures from other barrel makers, but you'd argue to the ends of the earth that everyone but you is wrong.

I guess I when I said I want a barrel to last I was in no way naive to the fact that the inside of the boar would wear the quickest! I simply want to know if I replace my barrel on my Rem. 700 that was built in 1971 that the replacement would have the potential to last at least as long! Year in and year hunting like its predecessor. In other words will the carbon break down unravel somehow?
