Yes really. Ever wonder why some people don't want to be here it's because of the condescension. I have legitimate questions about an organization that just maybe represented here on this site. I am not a forum whore I come to learn and listen, it's only recently I have been actually participating because I saw early on there where a lot of self-righteous dicks belittling people. I could honestly put my experience on here but then I'd be made fun of there also, but just know I don't lie and I am not going to pump myself up. My moniker is my previous MOS in the Army and that alone should be respected as there are not many with my background. But ultimately just keep unnecessary comment to yourself and don't be a dick.

Ok....I'll bite. Pointing out a typical red flag with a simple question/statement isn't being a dick....it's how we try and police the trash. If you've really been lurking here for 17ish years.....you'd understand that. Nobody dog piled with the glownigger comments.....just pointed out an oddity if you will.
Now, let's say you joined the site at 25. I have no idea what the demographic here is but I'm not sure many 20 somethings are here but let's just use 25 for shits and giggles. So you're 42ish years old and want to start an entry level job and work your way up?? I'm assuming Bortac is their high speed guys. Physical fitness at a high level required....right? So you do a few years doing pat downs at Tijuana and now your looking at 50 coming hard, fast and with no fucks to give. Now it's time to shine with the big dogs??

I don't say this to piss in your cheerios.....just pointing out why you hit the radar. If you are as you say.....Goodluck!
If you're as you appear.......Light up the darkness with your glow big fella!!

Honestly, you won’t get a straight answer here. This is the bear pit-a super fun place to hang out, but not likely to get advice like you’re seeking. I’d say that jobs like border patrol aren’t the kind where you are likely to just jump in. It’s guys that are already in that line of work. If you’re already in that line of work, well, you wouldn’t be on the bear pit asking those kind of questions.

This would be incorrect. It's extremely easy to "jump in" to a Border Patrol job. The requirements to be hired are pretty low compared to most LE jobs. And BP is always understaffed and hiring. High School Diploma or GED, no crazy criminal record, pass a polygraph. That's pretty much it. And within five years, it's a more than six figure salary. Sounds too good to be true, but that's the truth. It's amazing how BP isn't beating people away with a stick. Sure, politics can make the job annoying at times, but mostly.....it's a good job.

It's very possible for someone as young as 18 to step into a job with Border Patrol and happens fairly regularly that people under 22-25yrs old are hired.

And as far as the Bortac and Borstar programs and selection, they are pretty easy to get to selection (getting through selection is obviously a different story).

The OP correctly figured there might be some people here who can help him with his inquiry.

More than a six figure salary? So, you are not saying a 7 figure salary obviously. I guess you mean 105k instead of 100k even

I guess it's good to know that the border patrol's standards are low enough that DEI is not an issue.

So you’re proving my point though. I went to google and by simply putting “bortac” in the search bar I got the answer. No need for a post on here. Kind of why I referenced the thread by the guy wanting a mentor. It’s pointless to come here with those questions, but it is entertaining for us.

Copied and pasted from at least 100 others that came here with a bullshit "inquiry".
"My mos in the army alone should be respected" <------ That's classic.
Kinda funny that the army badass doesn't have a clue how to get into the border patrol.

It’s absolutely bizarre to me that people don’t look at that when seeing outlandish posts

I assume there are a lot of people who join this forum and read the content without feeling driven to make a social club out of it.

lol was gonna say I know some real knobs that have managed to weasel their way into higher level border patrol jobs. It's not like a crazy aspiration or something.
