Feedback Why do sellers delete prices when sold?

Is it an issue?

Cause scammers take those pictures and screw unsuspecting members into buying their fake items
It used to be done out of courtesy to the buyer. The transaction is/was between the seller and buyer and no one else. It was felt that whatever the buyer paid for something, it was none of anyone else's business. Particularly if the buyer could have been perceived as paying too much.

Conversrely, if the seller were perceived as letting it go too cheap, he didn't want to gain that reputation. Particularly with people that didn't have (and wouldn't have) any skin in that particular game.

The seller's only obligation is to the buyer and himself, no one else.

It's so there isn't a living record of the price you were asking and it possibly sold for.

Every ad is linked to your profile, states have different rules of what constitutes a business and what requires taxes, there is no reason to leave all of that information out there for potential legal ramifications.

Some members post an ad before including a price, so even the notifications don't include a price.

One webscrape can tell every item a member has listed and the prices for each item if still there.

Data is not safe, treat it as such.

Very valid points, which is exactly why I asked. I hadn't thought about that. Thanks.

I have wished there was a way to filter out threads with the word “sold” so i didn’t have to waste time looking at for sale threads only to get down 10 posts and it says “sold”.

If they were simply deleted then it would probably help sales by making stuff easier to find and see.

If you ask me all classified threads should be deleted every 30 days. If it hasn't sold it can be resisted, ebay style

If you ask me, "For Sale" items should only be able to be bumped twice without a "Price Drop". Then only twice again without another "Drop". I see stuff being bumped constantly, for months and months. It's obvious nobody wants your item for your blue sky price. If something doesn't sell it's priced too high. Really.

@AXMC would be not be happy at all with this rule.

There are numerous ads on here that are years old and they all have one thing in common: they are no longer paying supporters. Here’s an ad almost five years old:

Or an ad active since October 2023 and no change in price since April 2024:

Same guy above has a Swaro spotter started in October 2023 no takers either, of course he offers to have his cock sucked for anyone that challenges his price. lol.

Ads like these clutter up the PX from people that are contributing no money to the site for their dead ads. Maybe after a certain time six months or a year they should be automatically deleted.

I'd be fine with it generally... that's my self imposed rule...2 bumps then a price drop. However, there is a point where I've hit the lowest I'm willing to go and that's where you see the bumps continue. I suppose I could just repost at a higher price and work my way back down :)

I generally delete the whole thread after everything's over.
Good practice.
The whole damn thread ought to be deleted once an item is received by the buyer.
People have no idea how to mark their listings just plainly SOLD with the tab provided.
Asking them to pay attention enough to know how to delete a listing is asking a lot it would seem.
Not a huge deal just par for the course.

First off you can't list a damn thing because you are riding for free.....secondly nobody asked you for your opinion.....ebay style! Besides who says the item sold for what it was listed for, should sellers have to edit their post with the actual sell price too?

Deleting prices or not, not a big deal to me. I'd rather have people work on changing their listing's prefix to "SOLD" instead of just saying "SOLD" in their original listing.

within their original listing.

Most likely this is true, there’s a guy here that has dozens and dozens of positive feedbacks on here selling and buying very expensive stuff as soon as he sells the item(s) he deletes his ad and no record of any PX ads looking at his history.

I may do the same once the item is delivered and the buyer is satisfied. Not that I would ever do the kind of volume the tax man would be interested in, but one never knows...
