Foundation Gideon Hunting Stock

Bump--curious about these too.
Guess nobody has one.

I went ahead and called foundation to order one but bought there newest version that they haven’t really advertised yet.

Same as the Gideon but adjustable cheek piece, built in arca on bottom. Some added features that I liked.

They told me I was 8th in line on ordering it.

Think they’re calling it the Ezekiel

Also have the new one in the way. I suggested the name Ezekiel. 😂 Can't believe they chose it...

Can someone snap a pic with an action in and the bolt back so I can see the comb to bore relation?

I’m thinking of replacing an eh1 with one, ready to get away from the bdl on it and like the lines on this stock

I won't be able to get to it today since I work 6 days straight... But I can do it when I'm home.

Got my Gideon in today. Here are some data points on them since it’s a hunting stock..

Stock w/ short arca rail (no bottom metal) 40.8 oz
Stock w/ 10” arca rail (no bottom metal) 41.5 oz
Stock only (no rail or bottom metal) 38.1 oz
Stock w/ 10” rail and Hawkins M5 BM 46.0 oz
LOP with curved trigger 13”
Edited to add: weights include hardware

My only gripe so far is the length of the arca rail. Lots of wasted space and the rail could have a smidge longer. The forend is about 12” long in length and the 2” in front of the mag could have been utilized. As an example clamping into a tripod and also having more flat surface for bags instead of a step. But I’m sure Foundation had a reason for making the rail short. The bolt handle notch could have also been aligned better as well. Again just gripes and nothing to do with function.

Also for having a non adjustable cheek, 1” height rings works for me. The scope seems centered up when I’m behind the rifle. My stock is inletted for a 737.

More pics if you can would be appreciated.

Specifically around the trip trigger reach and comb/bore relation.

Good info. I'm curious if they left that space between mag and arca as a more comfortable place to grab/hold/carry the rifle, which I'm not opposed to.

Do these have a thumb shelf/indexing area like the manners? Doesn't appear to...

I hadn’t thought about the gap that way. Makes sense though. There are no specific spots for your thumb but doesn’t matter to me as my thumb is placed on top. Just how I shoot.

Could be the trigger? Also think it can be a bit difficult to measure consistently. Good to know as 2" is a bit longer than I'd like. On my manners I added a massive amount of foam and tape which works, but I always worried about it getting ripped off by accident on a hunt.

I’d be interested to see some hands on the grips. I’m a medium hand so it’s a concern of mine.

Currently thinking of replacing an eh1, grip distance is around 1.8” to the trigger, and I really can’t go any longer without it feeling uncomfortable.

1.75 would be perfect

The way I shoot my rifles I don’t wrap my hand around the grip. I just never have even on AR grip style chassis. We are all different but trust me, my hands can squeeze into size small gloves and no issues getting a 90 degree trigger finger. That said I know it’s going to vary on how you “grip” your rifle.

Hope these pictures help. For the “grip” I use, my fingers up front are slightly pulling in/squeezing and ball of my palm is slightly pushing forward and squeezing. Hard to explain but that’s how I shoot. No issues with a 90 degree finger. It doesn’t feel like I’m reaching or really trying to make it work with my smallish hands.

That’s what I’m worried about. I’m a medium glove and I do a more conventional grip. That distance to the trigger looks really long to me.

Thanks, unfortunately same as above. That’s not going to cut it for me.
My prev research into this matter (short trigger/grip distance stocks) yielded only a few contenders:
  • McMillan U10 or U7 (used to be called A10)
  • KMW Sentinel
  • Accuracy International (all of them, I think)
Not sure how light a rifle you want, but AI’s are not light. Not sure how light you could get the McM or KMW.

I own an AI AT and it’s very comfy, grip-to-trigger wise.

My hands fit into medium to large gloves, depending on brand. I would say I’m more of a medium.

Discovered a hack this winter when dealing with cold hands and a traditional grip, one with a long trigger/grip distance. Put a glove on and put a heat pack in the palm. In the summer use an expired heat pack. Helped a lot.

Alternatively you can have a dude like MKM make a custom grip for a chassis. I did that with him for a KRG Whiskey 3. Not a super light solution either.
