*singularity

I have a hard time understanding how a Black hole/singularity can have zero volume. If it has mass, how can it not have volume?

If it is essentially the nuclei of atoms compressed into an incredibly tight space… and therefore causing extreme gravity… it still should have some volume….

Maybe a singularity is tiny. A former sun the size of a grapefruit… or a golf ball. Or the size of a bacteria… but even a bacteria has volume…

So if one of you cosmology wizards who has. Better grasp of the theory than I do can explain how it has no volume… but does have huge mass…. I’d love to grasp the concept.

Everything the left hates is a Nazi…

The funny thing is that Trump would be the first Nazi in history to actually reduce the size of government…

Silly lefties… shouldn’t they get busy learning to code; fighting to free the Ukrainians; or moving to “some other country” where they will be safe and free to cut their junk off? I bet Yemen is good for that!

Youre a legend...in your own mind. but thats about it. I grew up in the middle of that craze. the Hawkins brothers had425 street hemi's, Sam Graves down the street had a 427. Larry had a 409. Doesnt impress me any more. I had my fun with fast motorcycles. Surviving that I prefer efficiency, reliability, and safety.
The Hawkins brothers had.... Sam Graves had..... Larry had...... Maggot?? Well he was impressed by them. Here's a clue. It's not about impressing.
Like I said. Drinking too much soy.

Trust the science.

I think it is ironic that the left uses the word “Nazi” not only to tag everything they hate, they use it to identify what they see as extreme right wing, to the point of fetishism. Yet, the term “Nazi” was coined by the British in their habit of shortening names for things, and adding an “I” at the end. The name was was National Socialist German Worker’s Party. “Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei”. (The Nazi’s HATED the name the Brits gave them. )
Gasp! That wording? A socialistic Workers party? Wait a minute.
Typical of the left, to accuse everybody else of that which they themselves are guilty. That’s a foundational plank of the Left. They are talking about themselves.
In fact THAT’S a foundational plank of the Left as well, they HAVE to talk about themselves, incessantly.

I am not a cosmology wizard but search this channel with black holes.

Less math but will still make your brain hurt

Depends on how hard you try to take what's being said as actual fact as opposed to a long rambling declaration of "we don't know".

Black holes ... all mass no volume single point ... need a theory to try to describe what's in the middle but we don't know what that is ... that's what would happen I think ... probably not a singularity some kind of stringy stuff ... no hair ... maybe ... cosmic strings ... blah blah spaghetti ... I'm hungry

Nothing ever escapes a black hole

For the sake of nerding out, black holes don't have a "size." They are a singular point in space, hence the term singularly. Black holes can be entirely described by three numbers, mass, angular momentum and charge. The black space within the ring is the event horizon, or the distance from the singularly where its gravity becomes inescapable. Hope you learned something.
Black holes do have a “size”. All that mass falling in doesn’t “disappear”. It’s being compressed due to the gravitational effects off all the mass present. Matter is neither created or destroyed. That mass takes up space. The almost unimaginable amount of mass contained inside a black hole on the scale of Ton618 would occupy an enormous amount of space, and create an accretion disk of massive proportions.

Black holes are not a singularity. The only singularity that has been identified with any amount of reasonable evidence involved the Big Bang.

How do you know this?

There is a massive amount of space (99%) in an atom compared to its actual mass.

What constitutes a point can be represented in numbers, but it can't accurately be represented visually.

Matter is compressible under enough force into what is essentially a single point. Obviously a "singularity" is theory, but the maths back it up. The Big Bang theory is essentially the universe also began at a single point. We make a single point visible to illustrate and understand it's position spatially, but a point is invisible in two or more dimensions and the dot we use is just so we know where that point is.

Short answer is that we don't know. Under human conceptions of force water is essentially not compressible, but under celestial sized forces all matter is not only compressible, but down to nothing. This is why it was a dominant theory that singularities could represent a tear in the fabric of the universe and act as portals or holes.

Steven Hawking theorized that the supermassive black holes at the center of the universe could spawn white holes that spewed matter and energy. That's about the limit of what I understand. There are all sorts of theorized forces at work, and till we get close enough to study one it will all remain theory.

I think I may have heard something about this during one of my trips back in the 70's..........
