High quality soft bag?

I had an Armageddon precision rifle soft case and I will never buy another soft case without a full length double zipper.

This case looks interesting. It’s available in 56”

That is kinda neat.

Not a full-length zip for ya, however! Bipod might still get hung up on that one; I gotta agree, a full-length zip is pretty important.

I like how they size the case by ID instead of OD. But no provision for a shoulder strap?

I don’t need a double zip though…the full-length zip Armageddons only have one zip and I haven’t ever missed the other one.

Thanks for sharing that!

The Bulldog case (BDT80-54T) is "good enough" for the money, IMO. I bought one for a T3x CTR because it was the most appropriate the LGS had and I needed one right now. I only use to go from home to the flat square range and back again, so YMMV.

The thing I dislike the most is that the rifle doesn't fit with bipod attached (AccuTac PC-5). The bipod ends up going in the front, long zippered pocket and doesn't zip all the way. Ammo (.223) boxes go in the middle pocket.

Pockets are a bit shallow, IMO. The internal straps are OK but I'd prefer they secure the forend of the rifle more.

If I were taking it anywhere but the range, I'd have already gone a different route. As it is, I'm considering a TacOps bag to not have to think about it again.

But for a basic to and from the range transport bag, I'd buy it again for the $90 or $100 I paid.

Weird. That bipod doesn’t look that wide when collapsed. I can get rifles in my Bulldog with a Cal attached.

I agree with you on your other points, except that I never use the internal straps.
I think it's the height, the pan/cant mechanism makes it taller than fixed versions.

I'll double-check when I get home.

How’s that fit with the can and bipod attached? I see the case is brand new, congrats!
Fits just fine. And that’s a pic from last may when I got it. Held up wonderfully, just got back from Clays and we had some good rain on Sunday, rifle stayed dry. Literally pool of water sitting on it and didn’t soak through. Worth the price imo.

👍 Yeah, I like mine (except for already listed issues). Really well made.

I'm debating a new case also, narrowed down to the Triad and AG. ATX, 26" barrel with 419 HFM, 40 folded, 48 open, trying to decide on whether or not I want to transport folded or not, stored in safe folded so it fits I there. Leaning on the Triad, either one is a wash concerning the exterior pockets in which I don't want much. I use the LRA bipod, so it's transported off the gun(s).
Did have a Savior case, way too heavy, way too many pockets, etc.

Best deal around, plenty of foam for protection, backpack straps and it costs $85.00, there is a longer one for $95.00. I have a few of these that I have using for almost 10 years and they are still in great shape!

Oh shit I forgot about those!

Guess what? The Bag Whore himself owns one!

You should see my bag spreadsheet lol.

I have a 58” one lol. That thing is THE most padded case ever. And I really like the backpack straps location, as the butt of the case doesn’t smack your legs as you walk (looking at you, AIM 55”). Of course, that means it sticks up a mile, but I’ll take that trade-off. Huge pocket.

But goddamnit, for me one is too short, and one is too long. And for my weird application, they’re too thick to play nice with 3-4 other cases all lined up crosswise in the passenger compartment.

I cannot overemphasize how thick that case is.

You are going to have a terrible time finding a (edit: single-rifle) case that will fit a folded rifle if it’s not explicitly designed for that application. AIM has two of those, both ~42” long.

Maybe a Midway drag bag guy with a folder can test that bag, as it’s designed for two rifles (@hafejd30). I’ll go and see if the Bulldog (internally the girthiest I have) can handle a folded AIAT.

I swear I’ve done this but cannot remember.

It did fit folded into the Eagle M4 Drag Bag with the shorter barrel and since I added the longer barrel, the only case I have that fits is an older Blackhawk 40" AR case. Not ideal, tight but works. Yes, the AT is fatter, but this folds to the right over the bolt.

Hoping someone has the Triad, 42 with a folder with pics?

This AIM is for right-folders. Internally 40.5”.

If you do buy a non-double rifle case sight-unseen, do call beforehand and ask if it’ll fit a folder.

I looked at those, seem nice but I really don't want to drop 350 on Chinese plastic and foam in which will most likely disintegrate in a few years. I could be wrong though.
I own the AIM 55, and the only knock I have against it is no shoulder strap. I pull out just one backpack strap instead, and works ok. It’s made very well…I can tell the outer fabric isn’t USA Cordura but it’s good. If my AG is a 10, the AIM is a 9-9.5.

You might try to order straight from them, as if you’re in the USA you’d get a much better deal, unless shipping costs eat that up. I ordered direct a few years ago.

The Mile High agreement might preclude that now.

Onto the AIAT folder tests. As some know, this is a left folder, which means it’s extra thick folded as the bolt knob sticks out. The butt is also thick. Maybe a worst-case folding scenario?

My setup:
AIAT 6BR 24” barrel, 1.5” high Spuhr mount, bipod attached but had no effect. Bolt knob was down.

CREEDMOOR SPORTS 55” 👍 tight, but works.

Okie, tks. How is the height on those? If you don't mind, the height of your rifle? Looks like if I don't fold, the AG or Creedmoor would work.
Guessing the foam is closed cell on the AG, Creedmoor? I would only fold if I went with the 42 Triad.

All closed cell foam. The only bag I’ve ever seen with open cell foam is the Champion’s Choice bag that was mentioned earlier.

Height: I’ll measure when I get home.

Pulled out ye olde bag spreadsheet…

Another option: Something tells me one of these Hogue double rifle bags might work if you want to carry it folded. Don’t know where they’re made, but they have YKK zips?

For me, of course, they go from 52” right to 64”. 😔

As I mentioned prev, I’d call TacOps and Triad and ask about folder fitment. Either would be a great USA option.

My AIAT’s height is approx 10”-10.5” from the top of the elevation turret to the bottom of the grip.

My rifle is at/about 11.5, I bet with the new trend of higher scopes, we will need to see some taller bags?
I messaged AG, see what shakes out.
For reference, my R700 in a W3 chassis, 1.5” scope mount is 10.5”-10.75” high. Unfolded and without a bipod it fits in all of my AG bags (52”, 58”, half-zip, full-zip).
