Hey guys,

My brother passed away and left behind a few custom rifles. There are no markings on the barrels, and I have no idea how to determine the chambering. I know I can measure the bore at the muzzle but is there any way to figure out the chamber dimensions? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Chamber casting is the best way, "figuring it out" based on clues works usually, depending on the person and their level of "interest", of course there's always exceptions. When my B.I.L. passed I sold off all his stuff for my sister. One was a rifle with a custom barrel, stamped .280 Rem AI. Here's the 280 Rem AI formed brass, the 280 Rem AI dies, some 280 Rem AI dummy rounds, so it's obvious.

Only after selling it I found out it wasn't. He must have had it re-chambered and never got a chance to start working with it. Oops.
