Washington has agreed to resume military assistance, including intelligence sharing, with Ukraine following talks. The U.S. will now take this offer to Moscow.

this could go in the Ukraine thread but it goes to my more gen ? i know it is early in the trump admin,that there are many huge probs he inherited,i know he is getting insane push back from the left. i still have a concern about several things,this being 1. Putin has said no temp cease fires only some final result on acceptable terms to him. that makes sense in context here.
IMHO any aid to Ukraine at all should be stopped now and forever. resuming mil and intel aid seems like a red flag waved at Russia. can't see how this aids a peace deal. we should stop all aid and offer to broker a deal-nothing else.
of course all "aid" should be stopped going everywhere. we are way more than broke. we need funding here,which is a separate discussion. RFK backing off on MMR vaccine is another ? i have.
grabbing a few thousand illegals is under achievement i think. i have lost a lot of confidence in many of his chosen helpers.
it just appears that many campaign commitments to action have gotten sluggish.
is this being unrealistic and hoping to see too much sooner than possible? yea,i know my concerns are of no importance to the rulers.

Trump is not a king and, as much as the liberal voices want you to believe it, he is also not a dictator.

Trump can't do everything he promised and can't make anything he promised relatively permanent without congressional support. He picked up a couple extra semi-super powers by EO'ing a national energy emergency but EOs only last a term, if that.

EOs are horsepower, congressional support is torque.

That makes sense. He needs time to refit and rearm before the Hammer and Sickle banner makes its next push, likely in Moldova... which will not fare as well as Ukraine has.

Watch for this- his #1 plea in bargaining will be for sanctions relief. The Russian economy is in ruins and a generation of their young men are dead.

This won't be requested as a desperate plea though, and Putin has set the table so that Trump will come pleading to him.
