I’m looking at purchasing a .223 bolt action and so far my top pick is the bergara sp. only problem is the information on them varies between every dealer site and and even their own. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.

Questions
1) twist rate, I’ve seen an equal amount of 1:8 and 1:9. Obviously 1:9 is a deal breaker

2) what are the exact #5 contour dimensions. Mainly the barrel diameter at the muzzle.

3) are the base mount screws 6-48 or 8-40

I’ve sent an email to their customer service so if I get an answer before here I’ll post for anyone else curious.

There are 2 bergara 223 that I know of. The stoke sp and the ridge sp. The specs are different between the 2. Stoke is a 1:9, ridge is 1:8. Stoke barrel length is 16.5, ridge is 18. #5 profile has a .70 muzzle diameter. Both have 6x48 base mount screws.

Forgot to mention the one in your photo is the ridge sp.

I don’t know why companies are hanging onto 1:9 twist because bullets have just gotten longer over the years. Make a 7 with mag dimensions to match and you’d be golden. Guess it’s too hard of a concept to grasp.
