Looking into upgrading my shot timer. I currently have a CED7000 shot timer that is many years only. Looking at upgrading to either the Kestrel KST1000 or the Shooters Global SG Timer 2. Which one is the better choice. I'm kinda surprised Garmin has not yet dropped a shot timer with their dive into the shooting sports. Thoughts on the KST1000 and SG Timer 2?

I have a pact and my buddy I shoot with has a protimer. Both work well, I prefer the pact since the screen only focuses on one shot at a time so I can look at splits and stuff one at a time as opposed to most or all times being on the screen.

I've used most of the other options on the market over the years and have to say that the Kestrel is my favorite (albeit the more/most expensive option). I haven't had the chance to use the SG model but the Kestrel has blown away the CED, PACT, & CE options I used before. Reckon you'd be hard pressed to go wrong with the Kestrel.

You already have a timer. Getting a newer one won't make you better.

Spend that money on ammo and/or training.

I upgraded to the Kestrel timer when my 10+ year old PACT timer finally died. I am very happy with it especially the water resistance. I was shooting with a group from my church yesterday running pistop drills when it started to rain lightly. We ran 2 more sets before packing up. I had no worries about the timer getting wet from the light rain. We now have 2 Kestrel timers at work after my buddy who runs the range was shooting with me an played around with my Kestrel. If you take one of their free online classes they usually give you a 1 time coupon for 10% off anything from the website. I had signed up for the advanced Kestral weather meter course after upgrading my sportsman to the elite software. About 2 hours before the class they had to cancel it so everyone got a 20% off coupon which I used to buy my timer with.
