Well I will try those out I've just started looking into those rounds after seeing your post...might try out the 160s as well...some have said they can be loaded shorter to fit into a magazineWarner Flatlines 180s at...
.025 jump which gave me about 3.220 OAL (so no way to magazine feed them in a short action). H4895 was really good, I ran them up to 43.0 grains which was about 2730 FPS, but ended in the mid 42’s which a nice flat spot from 42.4 to 42.7.
I shoot these from factorycfederal and they yield .7 or better moa. So it’s what I’ll load first.Anytime.
I seat long and single feed.
But this bullet, seated at mag length will accurately jump lawyer chambers commonly found in Remingtons.
I see a lot of people are going above max published data, seems Berger is pretty conservative.
I get a massive accuracy node out of these. Actually 2. There is a light load around 40.5 that shoots super tight but low velocity. Then a node that holds sub moa from 41.5-43.3, they shoot really well for me.
I've also noticed Hodgdon's loads to be quite a bit hotter than all the books. With several guns I've started seeing pressure before getting to their max loads.I know this is about 185's but on the Varget bottle there max load for a 168SMK is 46gr. No reloading books that I know of come even close to that. I have both the Berger and Hornady books. There very conservative.
Would it be safe to order a barrel throated long and plan on jumping the juggernaut 0.100" ish from a magazine? I would never single feed. Would hate to order it but then not get it shooting because of the jump.I have a friend who once noted that of your barrel won't shoot the Juggs you need another barrel. It is one of the easiest bullets ever made to get a load. I have heard of a couple of shooters who used to play tick tac toe with thumb tacks shooting them, at 300 yds.
Before everyone in F-TR switched to the 200s in about 2103 the 185 was the go to bullet. Shooting them in F-TR rifles with 30" barrels there is a node in the range of 2750 to 2775.
If you are loading to mag length with Varget you're running close on pressure at just over 43gr. in WW brass. If you can seat them long, it will take more.
The Jugg is probably one of the best bullet designs ever, very accurate, very easy to tune.
Hell yes...I'm super excited nowYep, tha’s what I’m talking about!![]()
So just finished some testing and here are my results....First thanks to all the members that helped with this process it was a great success and I really appreciate all the help

Does anyone have any experience reloading the Berger 185 Juggernauts in 308
Remember our 20" 308s are work horses not race horses. Thats how i use mine. If i want something stupid to race with id buy one.Chasing velocity with these in a 20 inch barrel is hecktic. Loaded till 41.7 got 2324 with no pressure. Gonna keep going till I hit pressure.
I'm loading 185gr Juggernauts in lapua brass with 46.8gr 2000-MR @ 2.8 COAL.... It seems kinda hot, but safe.... super low SD's...185gr Hybrids + 46.0gr of MR2000 at 2.850" in Lapua Palma 308 brass = killer load in my 308. 2860fps going into bugholes. MV SDs in 5 range.
Additionally, loading way long, the Warner Flatline 198gr, same powder, same brass, at 2750 fps = crazy good ELR load. Had as far out as 2100yds, with 1st and 2nd round hits in MT winds. T
