Rats...mans new best friend?

Since we were to poor to own a dog I used my white privilege when I was a kid and bought 2 from the pet store for a dollar a piece….they were very smart and much cleaner than all the other popular rodent pets

I never had any rats but have had house rabbits that were very smart. They were persistent when they wanted something.
I forget what they're called, but they're those giant looking rats. Not nutrias, but the other ones that apparently make good pets.
I took my daughters female rat after she lost interest. Sweet little thing. Would open her cage, put my hand down and she would run up my arm to my shoulder. She also loved to get under my shirt and curl up in my chest hair and go to sleep. I'd get another except we now 3 indoor cats.
We were so poor we couldn't afford a cat so we had pet coons. My whole childhood, we always had a couple. Last one we had was 15 when we put him down.
