SBR-Ing a AR pistol via Form 1. Anyone done one lately?

Is there an actual question lurking in the OP?
Anyone done one via e-forms recently?
Ha Ha I know I was just checking the temp on doing one....

Is it easier to do as an individual than a trust?

If I did it as an individual, would it be possible or easier to add it to my gun trust down the road?

Other questions are since it's the serialized lower that you are registering after you SBR it can you legally use other uppers on the lower afterwards?

I guess they used to accept "multi" as the caliber now they want the specific caliber and barrel length, so I am guessing the answer is no to my previous question.

Guys I know these questions have been probably asked before and yes, I did do a search before but came up with little results.

Thanks for sharing any info and experience!

Seems to be easier to do as an individual and not a trust.

It will cost another $200, but it is possible. Easier? Not really. It’s the same form.

If you want it in your trust, just do it now. Put an arm brace on it while you wait. Take the brace off once the form clears…

One more question when I bought my suppressers, I bought three through Captial Armory and they used the head of SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division) as my CLEO, but when I bought my other two through Silencers Central, they used my local Sherriff as my CLEO.

Does it matter? Columbia vs Charleston about 100miles away.

North Carolina uses the state AG if I’m not mistaken?

Just looked at my last two form 4s from SilencerShop and that is who they used. Dont think it makes much difference any since it’s not a “have to” for the CLEO to sign like it used to be years ago

You can use any upper of any barrel length and caliber on a registered lower.
You have to specify a caliber and barrel length when you fill out the form because you are applying to make a firearm, so it needs to have those things.

Absolutely, positively, under no circumstances do this unnecessarily. My first suppressor purchase was individual and I wanted to move it to my trust. That transfer is FROM an individual (you) TO an individual (your trust). There is no E-form for this, must be done on paper. Mine took 7 months. PITA. And cost another $200 for the privilege.

Do a trust. I just did a couple of cans and 1 was 7 days, the other three went throug together and were just over 3 weeks. my personal trust (not a SShop trust).

I'm going to do a form 1 soon on a rifle lower. My understanding is you need to have "available" the original configuration that you put on the paperwork, but yes, you can put any upper on the SBR lower (different length, calibers, etc) but ideally you should have the original configuration available (I have read mixed opinions on if you HAVE to have it available, but the consensus was that it might save you some headaches so just to keep it simple make sure you have that setup available (like a 12.5" 5.56 upper).

In my case it's a rifle now so I will wait till I get my stamp back, engrave the lower with my trust name and location (inside of magwell probably), then put the SBR upper on it.
