doesn't do much. i had same experience as OP. when i called them out as scammers they tried to turn the tables around and called me a scammer and left me negative feedback. reported it and its still on my profile
yeah, lesson learned there. first time i have ever tried to get scammed on any forum. they are rampant nowadays
Dealing with that myself. Not sure where the mods are regarding this but messaged a few, reported the scammer, and reported the scam feedback they left me. i have had a few people who were scammers and hit the report button with details (and I work in fraud, risk professional at MSFT working with LE etc) but those people were left to continue to be on the site despite the report it. There needs to be a feedback loop (as neither report it resulted in any notification report it was received) of sorts else it appears it goes into a big black hole - or maybe not - i just dont know.
However, if you refresh your post within 24 hours you get mods breathing down your throat immediately.
I know, what the fuck man? Feels like the last administration in here sometimes. Jump on your paying customers IMMEDIATELY, but let the shitbags hang out indefinately...

you should be able to post a WTB ad without being barraged by scammers.
I post WTB ads on multiple other forums without this issue.
I'm honestly not even mad about the scammers, they are easy to spot. it's the underwhelming response to them by the mods that i'm not pleased about.
No, not a crime....but how many times does the board owner and admins have to warn that WTB ads are catnip for scammers. A literal invitation for a scam attempt.
Just search for WTB and @Lowlight . Time and time again we have been warned.

I've had really good luck with the WTB posts. But you need to video chat every single person that you might be interacting with.
I think the admins are catching up on some of these reports right now, so hopefully we'll see that get cleaned up in the near future. These guys are getting really good.

I think the majority of frequent users accept the fact you get bombarded with scammers with a WTB post. It doesn’t stop me from posting them. But I don’t complain about the scammers, it’s just part of it at this point. I report them and move on. I have come to accept it and just due diligence on sifting through them. I think we all just have to have the mindset that you can’t trust anyone. Accounts get hacked so even positive feedback isn’t bulletproof.
Don’t report from the message they send, use the report button on their profile. I think reporting to mods from Messages gets deleted when the scammers delete their message (which they’ve been doing frequently).
If there isn't evidence of foul action, anyone can accuse someone of doing such, and chaos will undoubtedly result.

New tactics, new methods to infect, exploits to close. It’s get to be a lot and comes in waves.
We do our best but we need the real accounts to help and be transparent. No more, scammer report and move on, we need detail and about you too, even a few words let us you you’re real.
