I don’t know much about this case but after a quick read, it seems he was a J6er carrying this thing in a backpack in DC. So he got hit number one with it supposedly not registered at all, then the SBR crap and then the pistol crap because technically he was carrying a pistol without a ccw license. Interesting how it’s both an SBR and a pistol via their own terms. It can’t be both.Jeez, 1 firearm and he caught a rifle charge and a pistol charge, fuckin feds.
Jeez, 1 firearm and he caught a rifle charge and a pistol charge, fuckin feds.
Yeah, I'm not saying he wasn't an idiot, just trying to wrap my head around them calling it a sbr for 1 charge and then 35 words later call it a pistol for 2nd charge.
TRUE . . . but . . .Nvm, this is old crap. He was charged in 2023 and is slowly having charges dropped 2 years later. Still ridiculous.
Then he should have Federal LEO exemption.Carrying an unregistered, brace-equipped pistol, in DC, on Jan 6,
Suffering from suffrage. Her Barrett etcPam Bondi
This crap is ridiculous. So convoluted. No wonder people are giving up hope on law and order.TRUE . . . but . . .
(1) Pam Bondi has not changed positions from the Biden Administration on this issue, and it is going to trial soon. So the Biden Administration position is currently the Trump Administration position.
(2) In the Fifth Circuit, on the braced pistol case, which the government (Biden admin) appealed after it lost, she asked for time. The Fifth Circuit gave her until today. No change of position filed (yet). So the Biden Administration position is currently the Trump Administration position.
(3) The NRA is reporting that as recently as a month ago the ATF is telling questioners that a CZ pistol with a brace requires registration as an SBR under the NFA statute (not the rule, LOL). So, again, the Biden Administration position is currently the Trump Administration position, or, in this case, the Trump administration appears to be going even further, since the Biden Administration at least left room for argument that some braced pistols were not SBRs. The NRA reports that the Trump Administration later walked it back a bit to be more in line with the Biden Administration position.
It’s very convoluted because they can’t make a freaking solid decision on it. Sometimes it’s this way and sometimes it’s not. The last I remember reading in Feb/March of this year, the NRA, GOA and others all stated that the brace crap was basically in play again and that they were legal. Now all of a sudden they arent again. So, it seems to me like people are making crap up when and when they don’t want certain things to apply and that’s not the way the law should work and partially the reason people are fed up with this crap. Make a decision one way or the other and stick to it. Otherwise, nobody knows what the hell to do.It is not convoluted. As of today, April 15, 2025 the Trump Administration position is that braced pistols require registration as an NFA item, an SBR. That is pretty straightforward. Indeed, nothing has changed since the Biden Administration.
The only thing convoluted are folks thinking just because we elected Y instead of X that this would change. It didn't.
Maybe it will (fingers crossed), but nothing so far.
