Gunsmithing Easy access wall lock for ar15

@nikdanja

You’re probably looking for a unicorn.

Better to teach your kids safe gun handling than try prohibiting access. Gunproof your kids instead of kidproofing your guns.

A simple vertical lock box does a lot to prevent access by visitors. A wall locker type box can be had for little money and does a lot to keep curious hands and eyes away from your tools.

I just ordered this, this morning.

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. Right now i'm thinking about keeping a Simplex locked pistol box in the night stand and one of the following:

SercureIt Fast Box Model 40
SercureIt Agile Model 52
AMSEC UBS Concealed Gun Safe
Vaultek RS200i

Or even a cheap small traditional gun safe with a digital key pad.

I like that. Perfect for inside the closet Thank you

RFID is a no go for me. I’m not carrying around a tag, card, bracelet or whatever to open it.

GunVault bio has about a 1 sec delay and a little finicky. Liberty’s bio is under 1/2 second I’d say and works almost flawlessly.
Looking forward to seeing how well this Vara system works.

We bought something similar at work a couple years ago. The issue we had was if you had a light, sling, or anything on the rails it would not lock into the rack.

Interesting but I would worry about a fingerprint if dirty, wet or bloody. Test it out and let us know how it works out. Might be better option than leaning behind the door. lol

I agree with the teach kids safety part. Also bored kid with time can get into lots of "safes" very easily with practically no tools. All of the keypad or finger print types have easily defeated backups. Check out a few videos from this Lock Picking Lawyer playlist. Some of these are absolutely terrible.
