KAC vs Radian Model 1 vs JP enterprises ctr-02

I appreciate the input man. Honestly, I can't even find any KAC rifles in stock anywhere so that may rule that one out anyways. I haven't called them to see how long of a wait it would be. JP told me about 13 weeks for a complete build on a ctr-02. I'm just going to go that route to be honest. I'm hoping I won't have buyers remorse lol. I'll keep you guys updated on it.
I kept my JP so I think you are making a good decision.

You pay want to post another thread or read through the old ones. There is a lot of variability with JP Rifles in terms of how you can order them and it impacts function. There are a bunch of people on this forum with more experience with the system than me and can probably give you good advice on how to set the rifle up based on your intent.

Alternatively, Europtic usually has some in stock that are in what I would call popular configurations that would save you time on the wait.

I have multiple KAC and LMT rifles and while I see them as the most reliable "go to war/SHTF" type rifles on the market, none of them are what I'd consider "match grade" accuracy, at least not in stock form. I have quite a few D. Wilson LMT converted Proof Carbon Fiber barrels and they are solid 3/4 MOA shooters but that adds another $1200 to the equation. If I were looking for an accurate and reliable factory-built AR today I would be looking hard at the Ridgeline Defense LPR. If I didn't already have a dozen AR's in the safe I'd likely be adding one to my collection but maybe someday. I have JP components in a few of my rifles but I don't have any experience with their factory rifles so I can't speak to those and Radian wouldn't be on my radar.

I've had a JP-15 and a CTR-O2. The only difference between the two is CNC aesthetics. If I was to buy another, I'd just do a JP-15. And unless you want a very specific configuration I'd find somewhere that has them in stock and possibly offering deals.

As an FYI, I dragged my LPR-15 out yesterday and shot some factory Berger 73 ammo just to see how it shot and harvest the Lapua brass. Easily half minute. But I pulled the the LPRs proof barrel and put a 20" White Oak SDM barrel in it. And replaced the A5 buffer system with a JP SCS and swapped out the BCG with a JP LoMass. Choked the gas down for the suppressor with a BRT EZ Tune tube.

I was thoroughly not impressed with the accuracy from my Ridgeline. I’d put my 16 inch sr15 against it any day in the accuracy department.

Get the JP you will be happy with it, I actually sold a Jp rifle to give the ridgeline a try. I agree the accuracy hasn't been as great for me as others but Im still working on the best ammo for the gun. That said the JP i had shot almost all ammo well and was a much smoother cycling rifle. I like the upper on the RD15 but Im @JR1200W3 on this one and will probably start switching up some parts on it.

I don't think anyone has been disappointed getting a JP rifle. Plus their customer support is second to none. Very few companies do what they do.

That's a sweet looking rig man!

Im almost wondering if thats the issue with mine. How hard was it to remove that handguard?
Very. You need to heat up the handguard where the joint is. And remove those tiny screws without stripping them. And re-install them without stripping them, lol. I think part of why mine could've been so hard to remove was it looks like the person assembling it caught an edge and created a bur that smeared. This is what I found when I pulled the handguard off.

Removing and reinstalling the handguard is very similar to thermally fitting a barrel. Just heat it up and remove or install.

Slight derail- Don’t show this on for sale ads in the PX. I swear I see KAC rifles pop up 1,000$ over street price for some reason.

Back on track - OP, you can’t go wrong with the JP. I will have a 18” one before long as well
Which model did you go with? I ended up ordering a full build from JP. Ctr-02 with the monolithic upper, 16" barrel. Keep me updated when you get yours if you don't mind bro, I'd like to see some pics and videos.

I’m still saving my pennies for the 18” SCI-20 / hoping a deal pops up in the PX.

Your going to be more than happy with the full build from JP. If JP is in the question, it’s always a right answer. You won’t have buyers remorse or need to be worried if you should have gotten something else.

I appreciate that man. I'll keep you updated on the build, I'll keep an eye out for a jp rifle and let you know if I see something in the px, I'm on there about everyday.

Geissele factory completes are currently spec’d out for flow through suppressor use ( gas port sizes, etc ) so spending KAC money is no longer necessary for stock reliability without using fancy gas tubes and blocks.
What length barrel are you thinking of getting to shoot stuff at 700 yards with 5.56 ?

I want to stay with a 16" barrel. We will just be shooting steel at those distances. Probably varmint hunt out to 400 yards with it.

Really good point, the URG-I upper is fantastic. You can get that and slap it on any milspec lower and are good to go. The 9hole review guys tested one a while back and it cleared the 500 yard course with zero misses. They then clear a couple of more targets out to around 750 yards.

I sold my CQB upper for near three times what I paid for my NIB Super Duty Mod 1 upper ( Navyish profile & .067 gas port ) and I traded the included Hux FH for a Knights 3 prong
