This is why I don't do potlucks, food at work, food gifts, family holiday food, etc. I'm 100% sure the health department has never visited your home!

Now, I do some work in food manufacturing facilities and I'm no oblivious to some of the nasty shit I see. Picking food off the floor, when I drop it doesn't bother me. Something about your dog/cat licking their butthole and then licking your hands, and then your hands all over your food, are thoughts I can't handle. It also didn't help having a vengeful ex-wife who prepared food in a particular way for the people she hated at her job.

I only eat food prepared by certain people or those regulated by the health department! NEVER by old people with pets!

So, you trust the government.

Hell hath no fury like a late summer Badlands cold front...

Mid July - early September: Polar air masses resume sweeping down out of Canada and collides with the still hot and stagnant summer air of the northern Great Plains. The results are lines of multicell thunderstorms and squall lines often called 'land cyclones' or 'landcanes' stretching up to hundreds of miles long on a frontal boundary. They are not convection fueled but feeds directly from the frontal collision so these lines remain in sustained potency up to a week or more and can travel across multiple states. Very little to almost no tornado activity and warnings are associated with these systems but what they bring behind them make tornadoes look momentarily insignificant. Sustained straight line winds of 90+ miles per hour and torrential rain that can last 2 hours, with pockets of 130+ mph and higher recorded under some conditions. Hail from the size of golf balls to baseballs and grapefruits.

WIND DRIVEN HAIL

A mini-playlist that reflects the rugged beauty of the Badlands and the northern Midwest and cruising down the highway through it's expanse, especially during storm season:
