As the title says.

1) The original blocky, squarish layout

2) The second, “ribbed” design

3) The most recent iteration

Throw your bore scope away.

I decided to go all spuhr.

I originally only had one, a gen 2 1.5" 30mm 0 moa in fde. worked amazing for me. then i remounted it and the crossbar broke. i had to send it in but milehigh took care of me.

after this i was kinda turned off of spuhr for a while, but something about spuhr made me want to keep coming back. they just exude quality both looks and feel.

so i've decided to go all spuhr now, and my plan is to stick to 20 in lbs max on the rings and 25 in lbs on the crossbar.

i believe the spuhr design provides plenty of clamping force at these torque values where the 25/45 is purely just way too much.

we will see how this works out for me, i will update this down the road

The higher torque specification is possibly due to the greater surface area afforded by the rings on the scope body.

Unfortunately, the small, conical wedge - shaped screws also behave like…

…wood splitters, concentrating a lot of pressure on a very small area - quite the opposite of what the wide scope rings do.

Personally, I think this is a design flaw.

The replacement cap I received on the left had noticeably larger screws.

I was lucky enough not to have incurred cracks on the rail clamp.

Here’s my 20” 308 with a Spuhr.

Here’s mine, in .308 as well…

…with a blocky Spuhr.

My very first bolt gun and whipped handloading mule.

Taught me everything I presently know about treacherous chamber dimension inconsistencies and variations under the Accuracy International name.

Surprised I never damaged it with my “proof,” or rather “poof!” loads.

Shoots quite well with its second barrel - burnt out the first one, chasing all sorts of loads - likely a steaming dud to begin with.

None of them if buying new. I have a ton of them but a419 and grey ops are both superior designs and cheaper to boot. Also made in the USA.

Spuhr has priced itself out of the market and the design is old.

I'll continue to use the ones I have until I need to replace them but there is no way I'll buy more.

Is there a 4th option for a unicorn version where the clamp bars don't crack? :ROFLMAO:

The only one I'm still running is a direct mount on a TRG, recently replaced the one on my AI with ARC, they are both the first gen style. Funny part is the one I really liked that they made was the short canti version 4016 but they dumped it to a QD only version which I have zero interest in. Their other canti mounts have too much extension at almost 3" and not enough clamp in my opinion.

Sphur vexes the Hide, normally we take the most expensive product and defend it to the death with "buy once cry once!" but with Sphur it's a good possibility it's a "Buy once, cry twice" experience.

I vote for #2 as I have a few of them on my AI’s

I cracked the crossbar on mine as well. My next one piece mount will be something besides a spuhr

They look nice. They are well thought out for accessories. But they are not as tough as you’d think they’d be or expect them to be especially for the price. There’s plenty of cracked spuhrs on the hide to back that statement up.

I’m going to run a Impact 4000 on a raptor rail on mine and legitimately would not be surprised if the ring cracked in half and it fell on the ground 🤪

At one time I owned probably 5 spuhrs. I’m down to my last 2 now
