I have ATACR 1-8 , there is a screw on the magnification ring , i just checked to make it sure it was tight but it snapped ! The tread is tightened down and nothing is loose . Is this anything to worry about or should i return it ?

bare in mind that I live in the UK so If I send it back, I will probably be waiting for months for a replacement from nightforce so if it’s not going to effect anything I would rather just leave it

Are you referring to the screw that is in place of the throw lever that comes with the scope? If so it’s just a plug and won’t have any effect on the overall performance of the scope. Just becomes an issue if you intent to use the factory throw lever

No there is a screw right next to the throw lever .

yes thats correct! do you think its going to effect anything if left alone ? nothing is lose etc

Just keep an eye on it. In the mean time reach out to NF and see what they say and if they can send you an extra mag ring screw to have on hand. If they advise you replacing the screw you now have one on hand.

Go to a welding shop that does micro welding.

They zap a piece of metal to the head of the screw shaft and back it out.

Use your replacement screw from NF to fill the hole again.

I did this with a scope ring I snapped a screw on. Cost me $10 and as I had bought from a great business (Badger) they sent a screw to replace my fuck up on their dime.

Then wait for months on end !
How long would shipping take to go to NF and back to you? I had to RMA an NX8 for debris in my reticle here in the US and I had it back in 10 days. That is roughly 6 days shipping, and 4 days in their hands. Can't say I shipped much going over seas, but I'm assuming another 5 or 6 days for air travel and customs. Don't see where you get this idea it will take months on end. Just sounds like a shit excuse.

Have you ever lived overseas?

Shipping to and from US/UK is slow as fuck.

You can order and receive from Chyna much quicker...

Japan for a couple years, so not the UK. That was on a US base though so I'm pretty sure that had something to do with the speed of things maybe? Packages didn't feel too much slower when I would order from the US. So I'm basing things on that I guess. That was back in 09'-11'.

here is the snapped magnification screw the thread still appears to be tight in there
May not hurt if you have the smallest of screwdriver or similar to try backing it out. The lightest pressure as to not damage the threads. It likely has no pressure on it with the head missing. As long as you didn’t thread lock it

Then attempt to obtain a new screw

Looks like a groove in the shaft of the screw in the pic

Just shipped a $1200 package to England. Took little over a week to customer’s door. Customer arraigned shipping through Parcel Hero.

I would contact Nightforce, send them pictures and find out what that screw actually does.
Then you can decide how to best handle your issue.

What if removing that screw caused some of internal gas to leak out or what is the point removing the screw if you cannot get another?

Contact Nightforce.
