Niger 2017 New Info...

If you watched the video it says some valor awards were downgraded.

I only saw the ISIS released video and thought those guys were unbelievable.

Now they have the full video and it sounds like those guys fought to the last round and than some.

@buffalowinter any insight on this op?

The only thing I've heard is that support soldiers who were working with the SF Team guys were posthumously awarded the Green Beret during a Memorial service July 22 of this year.

"Two of the four soldiers killed during an October 2017 ambush in Niger have been symbolically inducted into the Special Forces Regiment to recognize their bravery during the hellish battle, a spokesperson for U.S. Army Special Operations Command said.

Army Sgt. La David Johnson and Sgt. 1st Class Jeremiah W. Johnson were named honorary Green Berets during a private ceremony held for their families on Tuesday at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the spokesperson said."https://taskandpurpose.com/news/army/niger-ambush-honorary-green-berets/

Jeremiah Johnson(left) was a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialist, while La David Johnson was a wheeled vehicle mechanic.

I deployed in support of their command as a Marine in 2016 (SOC FWD, North and West Africa). I didn't do anything high speed, just analyzed the host nation forces that worked with the teams in each country. I knew the operators, the command, and the command climate well. It'll be interesting to see if anything else is brought to life.

The partial video I saw came from La David Johnson GoPro IIRC.

If he was a mechanic, he was a fighting mechanic.

Never stopped fighting.

It was a tragic video but it captured a real hero.

I think the GoPro vid was from Jeremiah Johnson. Although, if you read the long redacted report, it was very clear that LaDavid Johnson was also a fighting machine. One quote: “he’s doing good, and he was out there killing it. He looked like a green beret to me out there shooting his gun, he didn’t look like a mechanic. He was getting after it,”.

He transitioned from M4 to the M240B in the truck and when it was about out of ammo he grabbed a M2010 rifle and killed more plus used it to spot for other team guys. Downgrading his valor awards, if that happened, is worse than shameful.

Yeah if there were a downgrade that has to be looked into.

I cant imagine much worse than what those guys went through.

Granted they had no choice but to fight to the end, knowing what surrender would have meant, but just because that is a fact doesnt mean many are able to do its so gallantly.

Just watched 3212 UN-REDACTED on Hulu. It looks like the CIA fuked everything up. I think the 4 deserve more recognition than what they got. Also, fuk the pentagon swampers!

Thank you for the review going to have to carve out some time to watch it.

Guessing the GO Pro images are tough to view.

I had to pause the vid a couple of times because of frustration...It stinks to high heaven of some swampers and cia chuckleheads thinking they could do wtfe they wanted in a foreign country. The biggest issue in the doc, is the amount of lies that fam's had to deal with. Once again, watch it, but don't watch drunk, it'll just piss you off even more.
