    Thanks Pinecone...I stand corrected.

    185 Juggernaut velocity in a 16" 308?

Ryedaddy, Your best bet (velocity wise) is with powders such as RL-17 & 2000MR...but go for accuracy over velcity. I hope this starts to let you know that all the BS about how awesome short barrels are is promulgated by people that don't shoot for precision/accuracy.

    Optimal Barrel Time and Quickload

.03 grain huh...what kinda powder measure you running?

Geissele dilema... DMR or National Match?

I have all the Geissele triggers...Four (4) NM triggers, and 3 of the SSA-Es that you are asking about. Both are very nice triggers with a properly tuned NM trigger being unbelievably great. They usually ship with 3 sets of springs and with the "match rifle springs", you can get the pull weight...

    Holy smokes, DPMS G2 rifles

thats very good shooting w crappy bullets and an unduly light charge of powder (high es/sd)

Whats your go to load for 155gr 308

Flight762, What velocity did you get from the 43.0gr Ar-comp load? how was the accuracy?

Heavier Powder Loads Meant for Bolt Actions Used In Gas Guns

It doesn't matter what bullet weight he is shooting. The powder listed is in the correct burn range...he could shoot a 240gr bullet and NOTHING will happen to his rifle because the port pressure will be within design tolerance. You can "upset" the rifle's timing with light bullets, again, the...

Heavier Powder Loads Meant for Bolt Actions Used In Gas Guns

Edsel, This is a misunderstood topic. A gas gun can handle the same "heavy load" a bolt gun can. The issue is running some (not all) gas guns w powders in a certain burn range that is incompatible with the original design of the action/system. That is to say that as long as you select a...

The world of .308 ARs - hesitant to jump in...

Dave, Avoid exotic/boutique calibers for your stated purpose. Based on your needs/budgetary constraints, i would go with the new DPMS GII rifles. Specifically, the Hunter model with a 20" barrel that weighs under 8lbs. It offers the best balance of weight, compactness, and ballistic...

    Loads for 30-06

Cullkillin, Listing charge weights one per line is accomplished by hitting "enter" button on your key pad after you finishing typing the information. A couple of things: 1. You did not really perform an OCW...at least not according to the instructions. OCW depends on firing multiple...

    Loads for 30-06

Could you list your charge weights & corresponding velocities one per line rather than in a run-on format? For instance 53.6-2613 53.8-2634 Also, how many shots did you take per charge node? Could you upload pictures of the groups for review and comment?

    Another 30-06 load question

SWThomas, I have no input on that load...57.5gr H-4350 got me over 2900ft/s out of a 26" 30-06. I think i was in the mid 2800s w my 22" 30-06 AR with the same load. Both loads were shot with Korean surplus brass. There were no pressure signs in the 26" bolt gun, but the semi-auto has...

what would/do you shoot for National Match ?

AR-15. That's what most people seriously pursuing the leg points for Distinguished Rifleman shoot... Main advantages are; cheap to acquire, low recoil, accurate, and cheap to load for.

    Precision gas gun build help

Get a DPMS GII with the 24" Bull barrel Stamp Creek, If the purpose of this rifle is to complement your bolt gun as a precision rig, i would assume that to mean that you'll also want to shoot it competently at distance. I would also assume that your "carry", "mobile" rifles will be...

30-06 fired brass. Is this normal?

Yes, I wouldn't worry about it. Keep shooting same lot of cases and see where it goes. As long as you are not over-sizing the cases, the case will fail from either loose primer pockets or split necks...none of those, even case head separation is harmful to the rifle or shooter...

30-06 fired brass. Is this normal?

Also, I've had case-head separations before, and it almost always had to do with over-sizing. Once my dies were adjusted using a case-gage, my case head separations almost completely went away (about 1 every 500 or 1,000 firings w same lot of brass).
  19. T

30-06 fired brass. Is this normal?

I would have expected that to be signs of incipient case-head separation...however, if two people provide feedback that there is no dimple within the case wall, then its prolly a headspace thing. Couple more questions 1. How much did the brass grow? 2. This rifle passed a headspace gage test...

30-06 fired brass. Is this normal?

SWThomas, DO us a favor. Unwind a paper clip, curl the long end and stick it down the brass...do you feel a dimple?
