    Dirty barrel syndrome

    In my experience, a totally clean bore changes after 20 to 40 shots, goes through a transition and then settles back down after 50 to 150...lots of variables. Whatever those numbers are, yes, they get less and less as the bore gets more rounds on it.

    I had a lady call me last week. She wanted me to "just write a letter" saying that the bullet fired could not have come from the gun her son possessed. DA said it was "consistent" that it came from his gun. She had watched too much TV. :(

    First Slam Fire

    Because they are not as durable and they use CCI 41 primers. A Ti pin certainly mitigates the problem when using standard primers. Common sense solutions trump mil-spec everyday. :)

    I use a Ti firing pin in my match guns to mitigate slam fires. In a few of my ARs, I can create a slam fire with Win primers and a standard firing pin. I can not with a Ti firing pin.

    Um, nothing? Someone needs some ballistic education or some word definition education. Sure it won't tell you an actual number, but saying it tells you nothing is just plain wrong.
