Christensen Arms With Cratered Primers Common?

Khuber and Trob, Thanks, yes Lapua 6.5 is small rifle primer. Will look into having bolt bushed. Any suggestions as to a gunsmith that would do that work and do a good job?

Christensen Arms With Cratered Primers Common?

I have a new CA BA Tactical in 6.5 Creedmoor. I am getting cratering on the primers- not too bad but you can drag a fingernail over the spent primer and it will catch on the cratering. Also swiping of the cases and light scratches from the ejector. I am seeing this even with what I consider...

    Brass Exclusive To Each Rifle?

HLee, I haven't shot the latest loading yet. Ive marked the worst rounds but it is hard to know at 600 yards where each round hits. What I know about myself is that if I have confidence in my load I shoot better. Also I respect Brian Litz and he says there is value in paying attention to...

Okay to share brass between 2 rifles?

Milo, I use the Hornady Concentricity gauge and occasionally check with the Sinclair case gauge. Admittedly not the highest tech and if you have a better answer please post. Jim

Okay to share brass between 2 rifles?

Thanks to all for replies. I will not share brass given how different the chambers are and see if that works. Also, Ive been experimenting with seating depth and have bullets (Berger Hybrid) .020 off lands in Tikka. Maybe I need to check them against the old caliber width in case neck rule??

Okay to share brass between 2 rifles?

I don't know if copying my process is a good idea given my current problem but: -Tumble brass, Frankford Arsenal, SS pins, Simple green, dish soap, Lemishine -Anneal for each loading, homemade machine -Full length size. Used to use Hornady then Redding w/ floating bushings (.290 for 6.5 CM) but...

    Digital scale/autotrickler set up recommendations

I recently got the Auto Trickler, A and D scale and Auto Throw. I have also added most of the Area 419 bases and has been said above I think they are worth it. Probably the most worthwhile is the adjustable base for the trickle. As the Adam MacDonald (inventor) says the biggest key to getting...

    Change in Speed

With a similar load (H4350)/bullet I will get 40-50 FPS change from 25 to 70 degrees (LabRadar). Surprised me as I thought 4350 was supposed to be pretty temp insensitive. This was the first time I shot through the winter and saw that difference.

    Loading past book max???

Another consideration- Pressure spike is going to be relative to bullet jump. I've had pressure signs (cratered primers, swipe marks on brass) with loads just at max when I had bullet seated at the lands. When backed off to .050 no problem and I can go higher.

Sizer not sizing all brass the same??

You said you were using a CoAx press, Forster I presume. As you know the Forster has sliding jaws instead of a shell holder. If you are using a spray lube and the alcohol hasn't totally flashed off you will get a little dribble into that jaw assembly. could that by hydraulically locking at...

Okay to share brass between 2 rifles?

I shoot 6.5 CM and now have two rifles in that caliber- Tikka T3x TAC and Christiansen Arms BA Tactical. I full length size and have planned to use the same brass (Lapua) in each rifle. Now I am questioning that. I check concentricity (at ogive) after each loading. I have been down to averaging...

Which primer for small rifle 6mm CM brass?

I was about to post a similar question. I've moved to Lapua brass for 6.5 CR and will soon also load 6.0 CR. On the first 6.5 Lapua ladder test (using virgin Lapua- which may invalidate everything so I will do over with fire formed and sized brass) I used H4350 and CCI 450s. SDs ran between...

    Tikka T3 Thread

I have a Tikka T3x TAC A1 on order. I would like to put a bag rider on the heel of the stock. Does someone make a kit that attaches to the small picatinny rail section? I know I can get a cover for the pic rail but I doubt that would ride a bag very well.

Chamfer 6.5 CR Brass How Often

CanSniper, Yes, I tumble w/ SS pins and you're right, I'll have to lightly chamfer and watch the edge. I'm going to cut down on time in the tumbler as first step. Thanks

Chamfer 6.5 CR Brass How Often

I posted a message about a week ago complaining that on seating I was cutting copper rings of the bases of ELD-M bullets. I got lots of replies and 2-3 that suggested I chamfer with a VLD bit (which I had never heard of). I used it on my last reload and it worked great- no more cutting bullet...

    Lapua 6.5 CR decapping?

Just got my first 200 Lapua cases. I know they are small primer and have a small flash hole. I have RCBS and Lee decapping dies. RCBS offers a 22-27 decapping pin but I am not sure that will work with a small flash hole. Do Lee and RCBS offer rods or pins for small flash holes? If not who...
